Dancing with Mother and Father

Cassandra, on January 9, 2020 at 4:21 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 7

I really want to honor my mother with a dance, but I don't want to not do a father/daughter dance. My parents were divorced when I was an infant and I have been with my mom my entire life. I have a very good relationship with my dad now, so I don't want to take away from his moment. Everything I read suggests picking one song that speaks to both relationships and split it between the two. However, I'm having a hard time picking something that speaks to both relationships because they are so completely different.

Any ideas on what I can do or maybe songs that could work? I was attempting to find a good mashup of songs, but I'm not having any luck.

How did that go over with your guests? I’ve heard negative things about it taking too long and guests getting bored.

Depending on you and your moms relationship, i plan on surprising my mom with a mother daughter dance to the song "Mom" by Megan Trainor. It is an upbeat adorable song. My mom and I's relationship is very upbeat dancy so its perfect for us.

We only had the 2, but you don't need to dance for the whole song. We danced for about 30 seconds to a minute and then the DJ cut it off because it's awkward. The DJ told us to give him a signal (sway holding hands) when we had enough and he would cut it. He said no one ever really dances the whole song length. I think if you do shortened versions of each, it shouldn't take to long.

We did a mother/ daughter, father/ daughter, and mother/son and picked all different songs and just didn’t have the full song play when we danced. The dance was a surprise to my mom so i don’t think everyone really cared if it was a full song or not they just thought it was a special moment.

I really love the idea of the signal! If my DJ doesn't suggest that I definitely will! Thank you Smiley smile

Oh I love that! I'm also planning on making it a surprise to her.
