Dancing Alternatives

Grace, on May 2, 2022 at 12:49 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
FH and I have no idea to dance and have decided to forgo dancing altogether. Also there’s no alcohol at the wedding so I don’t think anyone else will dance. 😂 Does anyone have any ideas for fun alternatives to dancing? Such as games, traditions, etc. It’s a small outdoor wedding of 50 people. Thanks in advance!

Usually guests naturally chat when there is no dancing. And they also do when there is. You don’t need to have group activities.

If it's outside, lawn games could work. If you still want some sort of entertainment, you could get a comedian or something.

Theres no dancing at all, for anyone? If I'm being honest, I'd leave after eating... and if it was over an hour drive, I probably just wouldn't come. Sitting around all evening isn't something that's appealing. I understand you guys may not like to dance but I find it strange to not allow any guests to enjoy it. Play music over some speakers and leave a small area for optional dancing, there's no harm in that.

We will have music and people can dance if they want to, but I know my guests. The ones that were invited to my sister’s wedding didn’t dance. The rest are older or I just know won’t dance. These are 50 people that are family or friends like family. These aren’t people who are coming to our wedding just for food and entertainment, but hopefully to celebrate our marriage. Still I’m hoping to find some more ideas for my guests so they have more to do than just eat and mingle.

Mingling is fun and I hope there’s lots of that too 😊 I was just looking for some ideas, especially since I feel like we’re cutting out a lot of the classic “photographic moments.”

I think this would be a really fun, relaxed reception and probably what we are going to do too. I'd provide lawn games like bocce, cornhole, etc, maybe a crafting/colouring table for any children, and just have music playing in the background.
