Dance Routine?

Imani, on March 15, 2022 at 12:44 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 29
Aside from the first dance, is anyone doing a special dance routine with their soon to be spouse?

We did a non-choreographed first dance, and then right after the cake cutting we did a choreographed Country Swing dance (I used to teach it!) It was a huge hit, especially because at that point everyone was drunk lol

Lol most importantly! Sounds great! I am the one with the rhythm, so I am debating if we should do a routine dance or not.

Yeah, my husband isn't really a dancer. We started it about 3 months before the wedding, and made all the choruses the same. We basically added about 1 set of moves each week (typically in the easier/basics of country swing the same move will be repeated 2-4 times, with the exception of dips/lifts) So about an 8count each week. Then for the last 2 weeks we just did it once or twice each day.

We felt really good about it and it was super fun!

For our first dance we've been taking private dance lessons. We're not great dancers and our song is kind of hard to dance to. It's a country/folk song with a waltz rythm. It's not choreographed but we know the basic steps and can include a couple of turns without looking completely awkward!

Thanks JA! I think doing one set per week would help! Also, if we do maybe half of a song and not a full song it’ll cut down on learning a bunch of different steps.

We've been going once a week for the last 4 weeks. Tomorrow is the last one and our wedding is Saturday! We wanted to start earlier but FH was in a bag car accident in December and broke his neck! As soon as the doctor gave him clearance, we booked the lessons. It has been helpful for us to get our groove back after such a hard time with his injury ☺️

My FH and his friends are going to do a coordinated dance to a Twice song because they're all big K Pop fans. I won't be joining that dance though.

Oh awesome! I want us to do something but not over the top. A cute little dance that’s maybe a minute long.

We did a choreographed first dance (but no other dances!)

I'd honestly highly recommend it. We had no problems remembering the moves, the main problem was my dress, which was HUGE! I kept stepping on it whenever I stepped backwards and I was afraid I'd trip on it. Thankfully I didn't, and based on the sneak peek, it looks like we will get a LOT of dramatic photos from that dance and the dress is the reason for that, so I'm still glad we did it! I just have to share - I cannot WAIT for the rest of the photos from it!

Nice! I think this might be an option as well. That way she doesn’t have to feel embarrassed because she doesn’t have rhythm lol

We are taking dance lessons now and our instructor is choreographing the first dance with us. She will also show us how to incorporate the moves into other songs. We are doing a mashup with two songs so we will be doing the fox trot and the east coast swing.

Oh how cool Christy! I think if we take dance lessons it’ll be easier on both of us.

We’ve really had a lot of fun too. We were kind of stuck in a rut of doing the same things so adding this has been a blast. Plus we’re doing better than I ever thought we would, not being dancers.
