Dance Free Reception

K, on May 13, 2019 at 10:12 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
Anyone else planning a dance free reception? No judgment please on the decision itself! Just wondering for others out there doing the same how they are structuring their reception instead?

We had a small (17 people) intimate dinner party as our reception.

We are doing the same- intimate dinner after the ceremony with our closest people. Not planning on doing anything structured, I’m sure we’ll both say a few words of thanks to our guests at dinner

We’re going dance free. Think upscale picnic w/ food trucks, yard games and a Ferris wheel!

My wedding will be mostly family so it will mostly be dinner. Our venue is covered but outside and they have a fire pit, smore bar, and lawn games which I’m actually pretty excited about.

We just had a dinner reception at our DW. Plenty of fun. My favorite weddings as a guest were small (fewer than 50 guests), DWs with no-dancing receptions. Felt like really fun & friendly dinner parties.

I think dance free is a great decision. We are doing a destination wedding so it is small and intimate with about 15 guest so we will have a cocktail hour after the ceremony, then dinner along with open bar. All dance free, with just music playing (love songs so nothing fast) at a low volume in the background.

We are having a DJ so we'll have music BUT neither FH or I are dancers. We told our DJ that it's likely no one will dance at our wedding because the majority of our guests are not dancers either. We'll have a very small area that the kids can play/dance around though. We won't stop them from dancing, but we're also not going to be the ones leading the dances. Most of our guests are likely just going to sit/stand around and chat, eat, then chat some more.

We also had a small dinner party type reception, with about 30 people. We did a first dance, because our kids wanted us to, but nothing formal. Everyone said it was one of the best weddings they have been to
