Dance floor vs regular carpeted floor?

Aimee, on August 7, 2017 at 10:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

So my venue is fairly new and has pretty nice and new carpet in the reception area and I'm just wondering how everyone feels about dance floors vs not getting one. They're so damn expensive (~$600 +tip) so I'm trying to figure out the best option. Advice please!

I have never been to a wedding where we had to dance on carpet. Although I suppose dancing on carpet is better than dancing on grass...

I look awkward enough dancing on a floor, I couldn't even imagine how um, funky, my moves would look on carpet, lol!

I prefer dance floors, but at the end of the day if there's plenty of alcohol and good music, all is good

I say save yourself the $600+ and forget the dance floor! Totally not worth $600. I think you're guests will understand.

I have seen venues with all carpet but I was told that they can add a dance floor anywhere you want.

I've never been to a wedding without a dance floor. But I guess a long as there is an outlined spot, it will be fine

Skip the dance floor! Save the money. The carpet is fine.

Dance floor is easier for dancing. That's literally why it's called a dance floor. It's made out of material conducive to dancing.

Carpet has more friction which makes it less comfortable to dance and could cause injury (You think your body moves one way but with carpet in the mix, that may not be the case).

Dance on carpet? That seems weird. You would think the venue wouldn't want people dancing on carpet because of spilt drinks and such. I would get the dance floor, it's meant for dancing.

If it was tile I'd say forget it, but carpeting I'd get the dance floor.

Get a dance floor. It looks great and worth the money. Carpets make static electricity and you don't want any unwanted sparks.

I'd feel weird without a dance floor.
