Dance Floor Size?

Maui K, on June 30, 2016 at 3:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

I figured that I should get a dance floor that fits the number of guests that are attending. But after reading online some websites say to only get a dance floor that fits 50% of the amount of people attending...other websites say different things. What do you suggest?

I know, right?! I am having about 55 guests and there is a dance floor that's supposedly fits 60 people, 48, and 32. Hmmmm

Sorry, I won't be helpful. My venue didn't give me an option for dance floor size.

I would think the 48 would be fine. Not everyone will dance at the same time and it won't be too crowded

Or I guess I could have no dance floor? But that might look tacky.

For the 48-person dance floor it will cost about $800 Smiley sad

How much is the 32? I've danced off the edge of the dance floor at weddings before.

Does your crowd love to dance? My venue comes with a 16 X 16 dance floor. My friends and I used to teach ballroom dance. I took one look at that dance floor and passed. We rented a 21 X 24 dance floor instead. It really depends on your guests.

Here is what i used to figure out if the room we were leaving was big enough. Our wedding is in the afternoon and a shorter than average reception so we weren't too worried about it. If you want to use something else, i just googled 'dance floor calculator'

    $200 difference for a 36 versus a 48!

If you have a lot of dancing types in your guests, I would go with the 48. If you've got a lot of older relatives that probably won't dance much, I would do 32.

A smaller dance floor looks fuller. It will trick the eye into thinking everyone is out dancing and having a great time. Whereas a larger dance floor will look pretty empty when only 10 people are out there.

Ours is 25' by 35'--we didn't have a choice. We're told it's typically crowded and would hold many couples. I never thought about how it would "look," as I just want everyone to get up and dance.

Hmm now I have to think. We don't have an actual dance floor area, it's what ever we make it. I kinda like the smaller idea to make it seem fuller. All the pictures I have seen at the venue the dance floor always looks so empty.

I had a dance floor that was for 32 people and it was 31 of us. Perfect size. All of my guests love to dance, so it worked out! Unless a good amount won't dance, I would rule out the one for 32.

My venue didn't give me an option on size, unless they are giving you a choice on dimensions I think your venue determines which one fits their space.

I was always told a small dance floor because then it will look like its fuller when people are dancing. Our dance floor was huge and I was afraid no matter what, it would be too big and seem empty even when people were dancing but it was great! Depends on if you think a lot of people will dance or not

I would say depends on how many guests and if they dance, but I have no actual idea. Following.
