Dance Floor Required?

MK1234, on October 18, 2017 at 10:06 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

Hello, my FH and I are getting married in his church (the reception will be in the "school gym" part). I just realized we don't have an actual "dance floor". My family and I are really live and know how to get a party started, so I think we will just kind of make our own dance floor, but I'm concerned if it's an actual requirement. We planned on having the "dance floor" between the poles in the picture, as our DJ will be situated on the stage. Of course, none of those tables or anything will be there. We planned on setting tables up on the outside of the poles, so it will hint where the dance floor is, especially after we complete all the dances. I priced the cost of renting some dance floors and its around $300-$400. I just don't know if it's worth it. Also, we are providing alcohol, as the reception is not technically a part of the church.

If they allow you to dance on the gym floor, you don't need to rent a dance floor.

ETA your pic isn't posted yet.

I wouldn't rent a dance floor. If there was carpet, grass, etc I would but that floor is fine to dance on.

If you have a professional DJ and are serving alcohol, I think the floor, as is, is the third ingredient. If your tables are pushed back, it looks like you have enough floor space to encourage dancing -- don't worry about the poles. I wouldn't bother renting anything. It looks like you're good to go with the existing floor.

A big open space says dance floor to most people. If you feel like it needs to be defined, you could hang string lights from the ceiling over that area, or even a mirror ball.

After looking at your pics, I don't think a dance floor is required. I agree with everyone else.
