Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake

Ashley, on June 24, 2014 at 10:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

My Fiancée and I don't really like regular cake, So we were thinking about doing an Ice cream cake. Just curious does DQ do this??? do they customize one? I really want this batman cake we found but its for a regular wedding cake... Just wasn't sure if any of this is possible! This would be so amazing! and I would love this for our wedding. No one I know said this can be done.

How would you keep it cold/in its shape? That might be the problem...

Thinking instead of displaying it all night we could just bring it out when its almost time to cut it like a half hour b4 and when its done handing the cake out put it back in the freezer.

The DQs near me do ice cream cake, and it is delicious! Some stores do customized orders, but it is just a sheet cake, not a traditional tiered wedding cake.

I used to work at DQ. They most likely can't/won't make a tiered cake (no one has ever asked at least). Round cakes are only in 10" and 8" and then there's a half sheet cake. You could do a design on the top, it would be gel, not fondant etc. And you could have multiple cakes, like one to cut, two sheets to serve etc. I know the one by me does small sundae versions of the cake, in essence, a cupcake if you'd like to go that route.

Let me rephrase and ask more…

Are you wanting a big cake? If so, where will you store it (most freezers won't work for the size of a wedding cake).

I'm not saying you can't do it, I'm just thinking of logistics…

Also, would it be messy? How many people are you inviting? If there's constant cutting, won't there be melting?

I believe Tiffany M. ( Tiffany P.) had an ice cream cake at her wedding. I think she did 3 separate cakes though. Hopefully she'll chime in here! If not you can probably send her a message, here's a profile: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding/UserViewProfile?wid=0f425cc0c4e27448

They can't do too complicated if designs at most places that I have seen. Also before you can even cut one they need to sit it out for a bit. I prob would not ask about a tier cake since most of them have never worked on them but you could prob try a sample one you do yourself( it's a nice excuse to get a couple ice cream cakes lol)
