Hey guys! So I’m at a bit of a stand still. My wedding is March 21st, 2021 and I’m trying to pick a song for my step dad. I’m inviting my biological dad to my wedding and I’m going to give him first dance, but it’ll be easy picking something for him. He hasn’t been around much since he left when I was like 8-9 years old. But my step dad on the other hand, different story. He came into our life when I was about 12 and has been amazing ever since. He’s treated my mom like a queen since the day he met her, took in my entire, crazy family (me and my siblings) like we were his own, and helped us in any possible way. I want to pick a more meaningful song for him. One that’s a little bit newer but somehow says I know you’re not my biological dad, but you are more than blood to me. It’s been so hard. He’s the one my fiancé asked permission to marry me, he’s the one that’s been here and actual even knows the man I’m marrying. He’s going to be walking me down the isle but I’m also going to be dancing with him. Any suggestions anyone has would be amazing!!

I feel you 100% in this. My dad left when I was weeks old, but was always was "in my life" but very superficially, and my step dad came into my life. I just asked my stepdad what song he would like to dance to with me. That way it really is meaningful to him and is like his love letter to me. It was also fun listening to songs with him and we got weepy a few times and created special memories!
