Eep, that definitely wouldn't be a good choice for a dad/daughter dance! I'd tell him something like "it's a really pretty song, but I don't know if it's a great fit for our dance- I'll definitely ask the DJ to make sure to play it later on though!"

Tell him it's one of the first songs your FH dedicated to you or something and he might change his mind. LOL that was the first love song my FH played for me on our first date! I'm dancing with my mom to mama's song by Carrie underwood, not sure what I'm dancing to with my FH's dad so I'll follow here for suggestions!

@mrsmck I'm dancing with my mom, and the FFIL because I didn't grow up with a father figure in my life. As far as OP goes, I'm not sure.

My dad wanted to dance to a really cheesy song I don't particularly like, so we decided to do a medley so we're all happy

Yeah that would be awkward to dance to with your dad. I'm having a similar issue, my dad wants to dance to " I will always love you" by Whitney Houston. Not sure how to get him to choose a different one without hurting his feelings.

This is beyond just a cheesy song, it's so inappropriate for a father daughter dance. I'm sure if you show him the lyrics he would change his mind

Thanks everyone, I will try talking with him tomorrow. I like the idea "My Wish" but no matter what I am not dancing to that song. I will suggest we can play it later in the night. And I am just dancing with my dad, not my FFIL.

Well it is a litter weird because I'm pretty sure that that song was meant for lovers and not a father daughter type thing. However, I'm sure that there have been weirder options in other weddings before.

You could have him listen to the song while he's sitting there with you and talk to him about it and why it might not be the most appropriate chose for this particular dance but you could incorporate it somewhere else.

My Dad and I did Ain't that Love by Ray Charles and we had a blast.
