Hello! So just as a little nod to one of our favorite movies, my fiancé and I are thinking of using a “The Princess Bride”-themed wedding cake topper that I found on Etsy (has Westley and Buttercup and the words “As You Wish” on it). As an added flair, my fiancé thought it would be cool to cut the cake with a sword (specifically a rapier similar to what’s used in the movie). I know that cutting the cake with a sword is traditionally a ceremony in military weddings, and neither of us is military. Would using a sword be seen as disrespectful since we’re just doing it for fun and not for any ceremonial reason? Other than the cake topper nothing else in the wedding is “themed” so guests may wonder why we’re using a sword, but really the only reason is for our own enjoyment, lol. Thanks for any insight!
