Cutting illusion Mesh From Neckline

Emly, on September 20, 2019 at 2:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

Has anyone ever cut the illusion neckline from their dress before?? My dress has an illusion mesh all the way up to the neck and im not sure its completely necessary. Has anyone done this? Does it necessarily require and seamstress to do or it it as simple as just cutting the edge and carefully securing the edges with a clear fabric glue or something?

TALK TO A SEAMSTRESS FIRST!! In a lot of cases even if it doesn’t *look* necessary, it’s an important part of the structure of the dress. A while back on here I saw a bride post pictures of how she ruined her dress this way— so be very careful!

I agree with the PP I would not cut it on my own even if it looks like an easy fix! You don't want to risk ruining your dress.

    Hey Emly!!

I would also definitely speak to your seamstress before you take scissors to your wedding dress!! They will be able to advise you whether the mesh actually has structural value to your dress and what function it actually performs for your dress.

If they decide that there is no important reason for it to be there, then you can discuss having it removed or altered.

    What is your dress like?
