Custom Wedding Bands

Becca, on August 29, 2020 at 7:20 PM Posted in California Planning 0 8

Hi there! Don't know if anybody has experience with this because it's kind of specific, but my Grandfather purchased some gold many years ago for both my sister and I to make our own wedding bands when the time came. Does anybody know how to go about creating custom bands using your own materials? I know every jeweler probably won't deal with this, but any leads are helpful. We're located in the Bay Area.

We don't want anything too crazy, just a pair of engraved gold wedding bands. It's just the route I want to take because my Grandfather isn't around anymore and I love the idea of being able to create a family heirloom.

Help? Advice? Smiley laugh

Love this idea!! God bless your late grandfather!! Jared does custom bands and may be worth a call to your local Jared Jewelry store. 💍

Depends on where you are located, you can google “custom made jewelry” and then call some and ask?? I think Calhoun jewelers MIGHT do custom work.. i found a place in South East Pa that is custom making my rings and circlet for me, and they are great so far!

I would suggest stopping in at your local jeweler to see if they are able to do a custom gold band for you using your materials. It never hurts to ask. Otherwise, maybe search on Google?

Ah yes, that's the other aspect to this I suppose... we're in Oakland California so somewhere near would definitely better to avoid sending gold in the mail during these crazy times haha. Thanks for the recommendation!

You can contact local lapidary hobby clubs where they will work with you. Do a Google search for your area.

Hello! I'm in the same boat as you- my grandfather also left me some gold that I'd like to be made into our wedding bands. Were you able to find a vendor in the SF Bay Area? I've been searching via Yelp and can't find any jewelers that will do this. Thanks!

Hey Caroline! Sorry just saw this... I made an inquiry to a local jeweler located in Alameda (Seelenbacher Jewelers) and they said it would be no problem. I told them I would reach out to them again once I actually had the gold, my mother is holding it for me and she's on the East Coast. However, they were the first place I contacted and they reached out right away saying it would be no problem so I assumed the service would be relatively easy. Haven't looked into it more beyond that but when I physically have the gold I think I'll be able to get a lot further in the process. I recommend just calling jewelers directly because I had a hard time finding any information listed about something so specific. Good luck to you!
