Custom Dress too Big!

CountryBride, on January 15, 2019 at 3:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I'm a little worried.....I ordered my dress from Azazie for an amazing price. Got my measurements and sent it in for custom sizing. Took less than 2 months for the dress to be made and delivered. Everything on the dress looks great. I go to try it on and it seems to be 1 -2 sizes too big. Its an A-line strapless (will be adding straps). I am now so worried about alterations cost and how it is going to look after such a big alteration. Any advice??? Please anyone calm me down. I am getting married May 17th. When do I start the alterations process too?

Can you contact Azazie's customer service department?

We're date twins! My dress isn't even in yet. You have plenty of time! Make sure you find a reputable seamstress and no body will even be able to tell you had to cut it down.

    Take a deep breath.
Although Azazie's custom size dresses cannot be returned, they will reimburse you up to a certain amount if alterations are needed after receiving your dress. Keep the receipt.
Find a seamstress/tailor as soon as possible and get a quote. A tailor can make your dress look like you didn't have anything done to it at all so don't worry!
    I hope everything works out!

I think if you get custom sizing and it does not fit correct, they will refund part of your price for alterations. I think that is what it said when ordering bridesmaids dresses, but I am not 100% sure.

You'll want to start 6-8 weeks in advance, but call around to different seamstresses and make an appointment now to get on the books.

I did check the website about alterations reimbursement. They will reimburse me up to $75. Which isn't bad I guess. I know the alterations will probably cost more than the dress since I got for such an amazing price. I am just so worried because it is such a big alteration. I originally thought all I would need done is to add straps, remove some of the puffiness, and bustle. I am tall so don't think I need a hem. But now it has to be taken in so much. I cant believe it is that big after sending in my measurements I had done by a seamstress. I know I didn't lose that much weight since the end of November.....I wasn't even trying to. I hope it will be ok.

I'm sorry I had the exact same situation with my Azazie bridesmaid dress, as did many in the party. Some girls were taking their dress in as much 4 inches. They do offer some reimbursement for alterations. I will be honest they gave us a $50 credit and our alteration bill was more than the cost of the dress. You have plenty of time to get the dress altered. Alterations typically begin 6-8 weeks before the wedding. Good luck!

According to lady who made my dress a lot of Seamstresses measure loose so your weight can fluctuate and assume you're having alterations

She suggested I do my own after getting from seamstress and lady had added 1/2 everywhere, almost 2 inches to bust and had 4 inches too long

Luckily she emailed me I thought you said you were under 5 feet this seems very long for that height. She sent me a chart and my SO took measurements

    I'm due delivery next week

Who knows? Maybe it will be too small for me
