Curvy, fluffy....fat Brides and your strapless bras

Disneysue, on April 13, 2018 at 12:03 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I bought two strapless bras in anticipation of my wedding dress shopping and wearing. It's.....fine as far as bras go, but it is a bit too high in the back. I need a low back strapless bra. My dress is not strapless as you can see,

But bra straps are visible. Where did you get yours? Also tell me about your shapeware, do you like it? IS it comfortable? How on earth do you use the bathroom??

Your best bet is to go to a local lingerie shop or a department store that has trained fitters like Nordstroms. (not Victoria's Secret). They will either have a bra that will work for you or know where to get one.

There are online sites with low back or backless strapless bras, like Herroom and Bare Necessities , but you need to be properly fitted so you know what size to buy. Many women wear the wrong size bra when they shop off the shelf by themselves.

I got a corset (bra clasp back) on Amazon and they had my terribly disproportionate size. (Small girls big body) the more “odd” your size the more expensive it was but I found one for $50 it goes perfectly to the top of my dress by chance and we put bra holders so that they stay together. I got Maidenform shape wear from Macy’s I just tried on different ones until I found something I liked I ended up loving it so much I had to buy another because I used the first one so many times 😂. I just got another so that it will be sung as it was when I tried it on with the dress

Lane Bryant. They are my go to for bras because they stock my size, 42H. They just don't have low back bras.

I got a corset for mine from DB , but if you get a strapless low bra it should work too.

I used to work with a woman who retired from Nordstroms and I went there a few times based on her recommendations. I went to a few different ones, and the fitting experience itself was......fine. All told me that while they didn't stock my size, it can be ordered. They took my information, and 3 different Nordstrom's did not communicate back with me, even with me reaching back out to them. I still recommend people to go to them if they are "normal" sized.
As for local lingerie shops, I haven't found any around me, yet. I'll keep looking. I'm a difficult size to find unfortunately. I did go to one in Los Angeles. They "custom fit" bras to me exactly. A friend of mine was kind enough to pick them up and mail them to me (because after spending $200 for 2 "custom bras" they wouldn't ship it) and the bras I got were off the rack bra's an one of them actually had holes in them!

It looks like the same as my dress (David's Bridal?) I bought a bra that they told me too, and when i went for my alterations, the bra was fine in the back, but too high in the front... the seamstress told me to take it off, she "returned" it and built the support directly into my dress, so I wont be wearing a bra at all... I wasn't confident, but when I went for my final fitting and to get my dress, it is very comfortable and supportive (yes, I'm a bigger girl with big "girls" lol)... I was suprised, but one less thing for me to worry about on my big day (OMG next week lol)

    good luck.

My seamstress just had me bring one of my own push up bras and she's sewing it into the dress. Better fit than just adding cups plus she can make sure nothing shows.

    It's a lot cheaper, too.
