Cups!

MrsRies&Love, on March 13, 2018 at 8:39 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19

We have to provide all of the cocktail, wine, and beer cups. We were going to rent glassware, but because it's mostly outside, I'm hoping to use plastic cups instead. Our wedding is casual, nothing fancy, so we don't mind. But my question is, is it ok to purchase only two types of cups: cocktail/wine and beer cups? Is it ok to serve wine in the clear plastic cups? And is 9oz ok for cocktail/wine?

Sure! I've been to plenty of parties that serve mixed drinks & wine in one style of cup and beer in another. Just make sure to order plenty so people can have a fresh glass every time.

How many do you think is plenty? 3 for each guest? I'm thinking most will drink beer.

I think those 9oz cups are perfect for wine and cocktails. Where did you find them? I kinda want them for my next house party.

I think you'd be safer with 6 cups per person, a lot of people crumple up plastic cups and throw them out rather than reusing them and you don't want to run out before the end of the night!

The cups are: Here! Smiley smile

I think I'm going to go with 5 cups for person for the cocktail cups, and then 3 beer cups per person. Since we're doing beer bottles, I'm guessing that people will reuse their beer cups or drink from the bottle. Regardless, it'll give us 7 cups total per person, and then also the glass water glass on the table (we will be using bottled water from the bar after dinner).

How many people are attending? Also if you order them closer to your wedding date you may be able to return the unopened ones Smiley smile

Will you need these cups for non-alcoholic beverages like soda? If so, I might go higher on the count per person.

Mia, you've totally made my day. The cups and bar accessories that we needed are like 1/3 of the cost on this site. Shipping is pretty pricey, but worth it! Thank you!!

Hey Sarah! Yes, we are. I've decided to go 7 per person on the 9 oz cups, and 5 per person for the 12 oz cups. We should have plenty now!

Totally Promotional, has similar cups that you can personalize with your wedding date, names, or a cool logo. We ordered a lot of great stuff from there and it wasn’t that much more than non-personalized options we found.

My mom got a bunch of these for our wedding! I’ll attach a photo so you can see. They’re way high quality — they aren’t the cheap cups. You could put these in the dishwasher and reuse them, they’re that quality plastic.

I think those look great. I’d just over order the cups if I were you. You can always use them later if you need to.

When I was considering a wedding where glassware wasn’t included, I considered buying stemless wine glasses as favors. I wasn’t going to customize them with my date or name or anything....but was going to use them also as escort cards—either with a chalkboard paint/chalk, a washable metallic marker, or another glass marker (such as something around the glass or on the rim). I found it ended up being fairly affordable and I’ve seen acrylic versions if you’re concerned about glass.

I would get more than 3 PP just to account for people putting their drinks down, losing them, cups dropping on the ground etc.

Yeah, definitely. I decided to go with 7/pp of the smaller cups and 5/pp of the bigger cups. We should have plenty now. 😊

I have planned thousands of weddings in the past 3 years and have found that golden cups add a nice classy touch to your wedding. Here is one such example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F24XRSK

Just make sure you order enough for all your guests. Typically, I'd recommend ordering 3x your guest count-- guests on average drink 3 drinks. So if you have 100 guests, order 300! Hope that helps.
