Cups with slip dress?

Cristen, on January 12, 2019 at 9:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Hoping the dress shop was truthful in telling me I could have cups sewn into my slip/sheath dress. I'm C/D cup. The back is open and low so a strapless isn't an option. Anyone have any experience? Thanks!

Was it a salesperson...or a seamstress who told you cups would be fine?

I can tell you that for my daughter (dress was a Sottero Midgley that had Swarovski crystals all over the bodice, open back) was told by her salesperson that cups could be sewn in and while that is true, when we arrived for her first fitting and asked the seamstress about them she said they would only be 'useful' and work for an average B or C cup. Daughter is a D...

Fortunately the dress had enough structure and boning through the bodice in front for support, and she was able to go bra-less without an issue.

The key is the structure of the dress to support your bustline. Cups sewn in are great, but they still need structure to hold things in place.

Hey Cristen!! I have worked with brides having alterations done and this is definitely doable! Your seamstress will know exactly what type of cups to use and how to place them so they're as seamless and comfortable as possible.

How is the rest of your planning coming along?
