Cupcakes vs Cake

We are having a small cake for us to cut into, then cupcakes for everyone else.

I'm definitely Team Cupcakes - I'm scared of knives (yes, like near-phobic), and the idea of "cutting the cake" has always terrified me for a wedding. There's a cupcake shop in my town that sells regular-sized cupcakes AND mini cupcakes, so my thinking is that we'll have regular-sized cupcakes for guests (multiple flavors) and then my fiancé and I can feed each other a mini cupcake of whatever flavor we each want. (My favorite flavor at the shop: Root Beer!)

We are considering a cake for half of the guests and cupcakes and donuts/doghnuts for the other half since I read somewhere that when a couple does a the cakeonly, about half of it is not eaten.

We are doing a small cake for cake cutting picture purposes only, but offering a dessert table for guests. We are doing petit fours, brownies, cookies and a doughnut wall. I think this will go over better as most guests don’t even eat the cake and it’s a waste of a lot of money.

We're going to have one small cake and then bite sized deserts like brownies, dessert bars, cookies, and macaroons. 😊

We are also doing a small cake for us and cupcakes for everyone else. Both my sisters did this and it worked out wonderfully and you can have more flavor options for your guests if you want.
