Cupcake flavors!

Caitlin, on January 17, 2017 at 12:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Fiance wants cupcakes and as long as I get some form of cake I'm not picky, so cupcakes it is! Now to decide flavors... we can mix and match any cake type and filling, so I'm pretty overwhelmed with the options. What do you guys think!? We are hoping to keep it around 4 options. I believe they will be filled with whatever we choose and topped with vanilla or chocolate buttercream frosting (but we have to double check that with the baker)

Cake:

White, yellow, chocolate chip, banana, lemon, chocolate, german chocolate, poppy seed, carrot, spice, banana spice and red velvet

Filling:

Strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, lemon, cherry, apricot, chocolate chip, cream cheese, almond, bavarian cream, chocolate fudge, chocolate mousse, mocha, and peanut butter

The 4 I've come up with are:

    1. White cake with strawberry filling and vanilla frosting

    2. Chocolate with raspberry filling and vanilla/raspberry(?) frosting

    3. Chocolate chip with mousse filling and chocolate frosting

    4. Chocolate with Bavarian cream filling and chocolate frosting

Obviously I love chocolate, but I'm not sure if I should choose 2 without chocolate to please the most amount of guests

If it were me it would be banana cake with a layer of peanut butter filling and a layer of chocolate fudge filling.

Otherwise I think a lemon cake with a raspberry filling would be amazing.

Why all these men want cup cakes? because mines wants most of the cake to be cupcakes... chocolate fudge and chocolate moose, banana, peanut butter and coconut. I love chocolate but I really can't do all that chocolate lol. At least I want the top or something looking like a wedding cake.

OP, I would have at least one chocolate free option. Some people are allergic and/or hate chocolate. One of my sorority sisters hated chocolate and dessert nights were a challenge!

    1) Chocolate cake w/ mocha or peanut butter filling

    2) Carrot cake w/ cream cheese filing

    3) Lemon cake w/ blueberry filling

    4) White cake w/ chocolate chip filling

I think this gives a good variety for those that don't necessarily like chocolate. . . Plus carrot cake is DELICIOUS!

Lemon cake with raspberry filling is a great combo.

I would definitely not do 3 out of 4 as chocolate cake...Not really a lot of options...

Oh I second a banana peanut butter cupcake!

I would do at least two non-chocolate though.

Thanks everyone! I think the chocolate chip cake is a yellow cake with chocolate chips in it so I was counting it as a semi chocolate option haha I think I will have to pick 2 chocolate and 2 non (my future father in law loves carrot cake so maybe we'll do your idea Sunflower17!!)
