Cupcake centerpieces

Jessica, on May 4, 2009 at 10:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

So, to change it up a little bit, I am planning on doing about 10 cupcakes as a centerpiece per table (we will just have a dummy cake to cut). However, I'm trying to come up with an inexpensive way to display the cupcakes on each of the 25 tables!!! Eeeek, help! Any ideas???

    Hi,

Great idea, If you are in NY, I know of a gourmet chef that specialized in cupcake designs and arrangement. Let me know, she does all my events, and works with my budget.

    Best Wishes,

    Chrissy

I did a search on Cupcake Displays and found several ideas... One idea is a DIY-It was made for displaying 35 cupcakes, but you could modify it to display a smaller number

What she did was cover Styrofoam with a silk cloth--Looks like you could do it pretty easily with some styrofoam, cloth, glue and the gumption to do it...

If you arent feeling crafty--these arent too expensive...$13.60 each and they hold up to 13 cupcakes-- after the wedding you might be able to sell them to the venue or your baker to recoup some of the costs... (they can rent them out to future brides)

I would check ebay first to see if you can find someone selling cupcake trees, or you could check bridal websites for brides selling stuff too. Are you also serving sheet cake or anything or are the cucakes the actual wedding cake? other than the dummy cake of course. if you're serving the cupcake as wedding cake you may run into problems. I can go into them with you if that's the case. just drop me a line (I do cakes as a side business)

We ordered 12" and 8" styrofoam discs that are 2" high online for under $2 a piece. We are covering the border of the discs with ribbon. Just use a little craft glue and let it set.

The place where we are having our reception has 8" round mirrors and 12" round mirrors. We are placing those on the surface of each disc and they fit perfectly. We are then placing narrow glass candleholders from Michael's (under $4 a piece, not including 40% off coupon) in the center of the 12" disc and placing the 8" disc on top. You can also find a pretty paper to cover the tops of the discs and you can get very creative with the kind of glass you use to create your tier.

As a final topper, we are using small 6" dishes that are only a few inches high and filling them with colorful flowers that tumble out. Small flower buds will be placed on each cupcake and extra flowers will be placed throughout the stands.

The stands cost us about $6 to make, plus the cost of flowers.
