Cup size!

Angie, on October 23, 2014 at 3:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

The kind you drink out of. -wink-

What's the standard size for wedding guests to drink out of as far as ounces go?

My FH thinks smaller cups will encourage people to drink more! What do you think?

I've been shopping for beverageware all morning.

I agree with your FH! I feel like I drink more if I have a smaller cup.

    Is 12 oz enough?

I thought the opposite.. I thought the smaller the cups the more annoyed they'd get with re-filling them so they'd give up sooner! LOL. I think I got 12 oz..

I would stick with 8oz to 12 oz for alcoholic drinks, especially for beer/wine.

People tend to fill up their cups, so larger cups mean you'll go through more drinks. Guests won't think about how much they're actually putting into their cups; just that they want their cups full.

Small beers at restaurants tend to be 10-12 oz to leave room for the head. Wine tends to be 5.5-6 ounces. If you have a bartender (a real one), you'll be able to tell them how big your glasses are and how many ounces you want to be served.

If you're letting people self-serve, definitely go for 6-8 oz glasses. People won't complain about having to go to the bar too often.
