Cry proof Makeup

Samantha, on February 12, 2016 at 2:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

Hello fellow brides!

I am a pretty emotional person, and have a feeling I may be crying for much of the wedding! lol I have already cried multiple times just thinking of certain parts of the day. The photographer explained in detail the first look photos, and I started crying right there in the consultation! I want to make sure I have make up that is going to withstand many moments of tears that day! Unless anyone has suggestions for becoming less emotional. FH suggested I watch horror movies or get my tear ducts removed! (kidding of course)

Waterproof mascara. Setting spray and primer also help hold your makeup in place. I cried through my entire ceremony and it was ok.

Samantha, we sound like twins! I'm so worried I'll have endless shots of me ugly crying during the ceremony. Ugh. I cry at commercials - I'm hopeless. I will DEFINITELY let my MUA know to use some heavy duty stuff on me, too, so that it all stays in place through the (happy) tears. Smiley smile

Thank you for your suggestions! I will make sure my MUA knows, but also want to make sure I have it in case I need to fix something. I am so scared I will get pictures back with a tear streak down my face!

Ben Nye has incredible setting spray. We use it on stage and even when I'm pouring sweat under the stage lights, my makeup doesn't budge Smiley laugh

Haha! I feel ya! I met my ex-husband's grandmother ONCE and cried during her entire funeral like she was MY grandmother!

When I got married to him, I seriously had to not let my emotions overcome me. Kinda sucked not being able to fully BE in the moment but I'm so glad I wasn't a crying mess.

Hoping I can accomplish the same this time around!

Have you done a trial yet with your MUA? tell her you're nervous about the water works.

Do your trial, then go watch some sad movies or something. See what might need to be changed!

Make sure that you also use waterproof eyeliner. You may also want to avoid under-eye eyeliner as this can be really prone to smudging in these situations.

Waterproof everything and the Urban Decay setting spray. It's expensive but sooo worth it!

Another thought--have extras of your makeup so you can fix it if necessary and some eye-makeup correctors so you can get rid of tearstains. They basically look like Q-tips that are pre-soaked in makeup remover. I bought mine at CVS and they make it really easy to fix eye makeup without having to remove everything first.

I use Trish McEvoy makeup, and let me just tell you about the mascara. The first week I had it, I went to a funeral for a good friend who passed away. Right after the funeral, I had to go to work for the second half of the day. I didn't have to reapply my makeup in between and Nobody at work could even tell that I had cried all morning. It's funeral-proof, so I expect it to be wedding-proof as well.

Following. I have chronic dry eye and my eyes tear from everything. I have runny eyes all day. I've tried countless waterproof mascaras. I cannot seem to find one strong enough to keep from smudging.

Please change your avatar to something other than the rings! They are associated with spam/trolls.

I got eyelash extensions for the wedding. They aren't cheap but they are gorgeous and worth every penny!! It was fabulous to not worry about mascara or glue-on lashes on an emotional day.

Other than that, just make sure you tell your makeup artist about this and make sure you pack some makeup remover and Q-tips (to clean up smudges), and a touch-up kit incase you need it!
