Hello ladies! I've been going back and forth from having a cruise wedding/reception or just having the traditional wedding. Most of mine and my FH's friends and family live 17 hours away from us, so I feel like having a cruise ship wedding will be nice to actually give the people coming down a vacation and more time to visit rather than just the one day. Then again it will limit us with many more options like decorations, food etc. Has anyone had a cruise ship wedding? If so what was your experience like?

Cruise weddings are nice for small groups. Keep in mind that you may have to deal with drunks on the ship though.

***True story - Someone I know got black out drunk on a cruise and berated a bride from the pool deck for no reason. I mean, full on screaming about their dress being ugly, they were too fat for someone to marry. Just crazy shit.

Obviously this would be a rare occurance but you cannot control the public.

It wouldn't appeal to me but only because I get sea sick. Otherwise I would love to be a guest on a cruise wedding.

OP...Alexa.... check out the weddings board on cruise critics website. Lots of reviews and contrary to somes beliefs, weddings with fairly large groups. All kinds of info there much better suited to this type of wedding Smiley smile

Same as a DW, no? Jeez some people have their panties in a bunch. If the VIPs you need there are willing, I say do it.

Side note: "keep things snallabd fun" is my new catchphrase. Also, K.I.S.S. (Keep It Snallabd, Stupid.)

I am having a cruise wedding this January! W are going out of Jacksonville through Carnival to the Bahamas. We went with Carnival because it had the best package for what we were looking for. The cruise itself costs $230 PER PERSON! Not a grand... and some of my guests can drive or fly. Those flying would have to fly anyways and spend the money on the hotel. I don't have a bridal party so my girlfriends could use that money towards the cruise. We invited 80 people, so far 20 have booked. We are expecting to spend about 6k total that includes the food, open bar, my dress, his attire, STDs, invites, our cabin.... if you want more information email me at *******@*****.***.

@SimpleSeamstress- its probably a grand if you go on RC or those other high price cruises.

This feedback is awesome ladies. Thank you so much. I think me and my FH have fully decided on doing the cruise ship wedding. I talked to a cruise guy about it yesterday along with all of our VIPs who said they are willing to go. They are all actually really excited about it! Thank you again!

I agree, cruise wedding are the same thing as a DW. There is no difference. We are doing a cruise wedding in April of 17, need to update my wedding date! But for us it is something that we love, cruising, and made sure the most important people could be there. If someone can't come we are throwing a BBQ after we get back as a reception. We understand those that can't come and are just thinking of the future, we will be saving SO much money by doing a cruise wedding compared to a traditional. Plus our wedding is a week and not one day! We will be doing a honeymoon a couple months after the actual wedding.
