Cruise Line Honeymoon

Mandi, on March 9, 2020 at 3:39 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 13
Anyone else feel like they're playing chicken with their cruise line?

We have a 2 part honeymoon planned, the last part being a cruise. We've decided to wait it out, but we're starting to work on a contingency plan just in case the cruise line/CDC/state department cancels our cruise. We aren't worried about our health, we're young, and we know plenty of people who are fine after catching swine flu a few years back. But I'm getting annoyed by all of the random hurdles we keep facing.

Ugh that does sound stressful. I'm not doing a cruise but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this virus scare is cleaned up by the time we want to fly in June!!

Me!!! We cruise on 04/12. I am sick over the thought of potentially NOT going on my honeymoon as planned.

I would be concerned about being stuck on the boat and the cruise ship not actually stopping where it’s supposed to. I live in a city where cruise ships dock at least once or twice a month and our city just announced they aren’t allowing any cruise ships to stop here thru the end of April.

Girl tell me about it! I haven’t heard of any cancellations in Orlando where I’ll be sailing from, but it’s so frustrating.

I would be concerned about a cruise only because you have zero control - if they decide to quarantine you're stuck on that boat. I agree in not being paranoid about getting sick/dying but rather getting stuck somewhere you don't want to be...

Same same and same. I'm waiting it out for a bit but looking at backup plans. Thinking of booking a refundable hotel somewhere driving distance. Just mad because I really was looking forward to the cruise and bought so much stuff for it already

“Annoyed by the random hurdles” - Welcome to marriage. This is just the beginning.

Read the CDC posting on cruise lines daily / often and follow their warnings. If we live to always be in fear we will never live life.

Ha. My fiance is great. The outside world is testing my patience.

Fair. But I'm from the midwest. Stuck in my room with a verandah overlooking the ocean... things could look worse.

That wasn’t related to your fiancée, that is the real world and marriage. It is going to test us, always test us 😁

I avoid the outside world- oh yeah, I can’t, it’s part of my everyday world. But it sure sounded great for a moment 🤪

Girl yes!! Our cruise is on June 8 to Alaska. I’m praying that nothing happens because like... this is our honeymoon and I’d rather have a more perfect honeymoon than wedding. 🥴 the stress is there but I would say just have a back up plan!

Yes! We were contemplating taking a cruise after our DW, but have decided against it after hearing about these cruise ships getting quarantined. I’m already taking a week off work for the wedding, and don’t have another 2-3 weeks of PTO to be quarantined. And I definitely can not afford to be jobless 😕
