Cruise in May.....

Ronda, on March 11, 2020 at 9:25 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6

Hey everyone! I don't get on here much at all, so not sure if this has been discussed a lot already. Is anyone else getting married in May and planning on taking a cruise honeymoon? We have a cruise that's paid for. Now with all of the coronavirus stuff, we're considering just extending a hotel stay in Miami and taking the cruise at another time. What are your thoughts? This whole situation is stressful.....and adding that on top of wedding planning and planning to move just makes it all extra stressful. Thanks for listening and for your feedback!!

We are waiting to decide but our cruise is April 13th so likely will. Look into your cruise ship's policy. We get a credit back on Royal Caribbean if you cancel up to 48 hours before but it's not money back so I'd still have to pay for another honeymoon right now when money is tight.

I am waiting until April to decide because their cancellation policy is so lenient!

Oh wow! You're wedding date is so soon. I'm May 9th, so I have a bit more time. I hope it all works out for you! We're on Carnival and they've been sending tons of info.....on board credit and the ability to book for future dates with no penalties. This is just a horrible time for all of this stuff to be going on! Safety must come first.....so we will see what happens.

I second talking to your cruise.

Having back up plans at this point is a very good idea.

    Good luck!

Thanks! Yeah we decided our Plan B will be to stay in Miami for the week and then take the cruise later this year.

I would call your cruise line and ask what your options are. I know a few have stopped all sailings for 60 days which would put that into the beginning of May. I would think by then everything should be getting back to normal. We're booked on Royal Caribbean (not until December) and I know they are being extremely lenient with switching your cruise dates.

Thanks, Kayla. I think that pretty soon that decision is gonna be made for us anyway. From what I've recently seen, Carnival and Royal Caribbean have temporarily halted sailings for a while. Carnival is our line and they do allow up to one year to re-book a cruise that's already paid for.
