Cross-stitch wedding favors?

brittany, on January 5, 2011 at 11:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

I'm kind of toying around with this idea a bit.. Only thing is, what would be both masculine and feminine that I could make? I thought of either embroidered or cross-stitched napkins [with the person's initials] that could double as a place holder... Any thoughts or other ideas?

Thanks! (:

Is this a project you would do yourself, or hire out? Pricing out is always the first thing I did. It sounds cute, but not sure what I would do with 1 embroidred/cross stich napkin...LOL

I would do it myself, and maybe enlist the help of my mother.

Could you get the cross stitch set into something? Like those coasters that hold photos, or a clear perspex napkin ring, and personalise a coaster or ring for each person?

Yes, cute idea. Depending on how many, I would look at hiring someone to do it too. If you have the time then save the $$$ and do it yourself. I have seen hankerchiefs done as gifts but only to the bridal party.

@Kristy.. I've seen coasters done like that before, so I'm sure I could find them somewhere. Good idea Smiley smile

@Cooper... Haha, well I've only got bout 80 guests, and I have to take into account those who decline.. Eh..

If this idea is kind of lame, maybe I could do table numbers in cross-stitch instead?

I used to cross stitch, and I remember it being a pain in the arse.

I'd just worry it's a hell of a lot of work for something someone might not appreciate, or use, or even take home with them after.

Table numbers would be cool - are you going with numbers? I've seen some great table name ideas on here so each could have a picture with it, and you could use a photo frame to stand it up in. Or if you can get definite rsvps early enough you could stitch the table plan!

@Kristy... True about the favors. As for the tables, I just figured I'd go with numbers.. hadn't given it too much thought really lol.. Smiley laugh

Bump.. what about cross stitch table numbers in frames.. i'd have to do two of each [so they can be seen from both sides of the table], and have them positioned somehow so they could sit a foot or two off the table..

    eh?

I do cross stitch and it is a ton of work and a huge time sucker. I love the idea of the table numbers I feel like if it were favors people might not have as much appreciation for the work being put in

Yeah it takes forever, I know Smiley smile I think it would be worth it though to do the table numbers anyways.

What about cross-stitching a heart onto men's and women's plain handkerchiefs?

I like the idea of doing the cross stich table numbers, it's different and unique!

BTW I used mirrored picture frames from the 99 cent store for my table numbers (just printed #s on paper, didn't cross stitch). I just sat the frame on the table, I didn't have to raise the frame up, everyone found the tables without a problem. If you can find a cool way to raise them up that is fine, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

@FMS That's a very good point... But maybe I could use them in a scrapbook. I plan on having a disposable camera at every table, so I could put the pictures from each table in a scrapbook, with the table number sort of as a centerpiece for the page, or on the page preceding the page with pictures for that table. Eh?

My FH proposed on Christmas so I am making cross stiched xmas ornaments for each guest (60). I fould a simple pattern, so eah one takes abour 2 hrs. Also found a cute L-O-V-E pattern in our colors, so I'm making a bunch to be framed as part of our centerpieces.
