Cricut

Erin, on January 6, 2020 at 1:14 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 9
Does anyone here use the cricut machines? I was thinking about getting one to help DIY some signs and gifts and such. I almost bought one a month ago but then I had a few people tell me it was hard to use. What’s everyone’s opinion on them? Are they worth it or no? Thanks!

Ubless you have experience using one, I wouldn't bring to try to use it for wedding stuff. Otherwise you are going to have to practice and spend the time and money on the materials to practice plus what you actually use for the wedding. Also, unless you do a lot of DIY projects for the wedding and other events then I don't think it is worth purchasing. I have never used one, but our decorator used one to make our signs. She borrowed a friend's.

My sister has the off-brand Cricut (I think it's called a silhouette?) and she LOVES it. She uses it all the time for everything you could possibly think of. I've never used one, but she told me that hers is pretty straight forward.

I LOVE my Cricut!! It's definitely not hard to use, especially if you're naturally crafty and decent on a computer. I'm pretty much completely self-taught, though I have watched a few tutorials if I've needed something specific. I bought mine a couple of years ago and have used it for things other than the wedding, which makes it worth it in my opinion. If you don't anticipate using it after the wedding, I don't know if I would invest in one for just the wedding, but if you plan on it, it's definitely a good investment. I've made my table numbers, welcome and unplugged signs, pockets for my invitations, and am using it to address my invitation envelopes (and used it to address my STD envelopes). I've also used it to personalize robes for my coworker's and sister's weddings and create decorative items for my coworker's bridal shower I hosted. So many uses!

My mom has a silhouette and she loves it!! She made these personalized glasses for my sisters wedding. And she’s doing the same for our wedding!

I love my Cricut! I just got it a few weeks ago and so far it’s been super easy to use. If I’m having trouble figuring anything out, I just go to YouTube and it’s easy to find videos that answer any of my questions. So far I’ve just made this sign but plan on working on plenty more wedding projects!Cricut 8

I don't have one, but my friend does and I paid her to make a few things for our wedding. She also makes me things all the time that are non-wedding related. She does not seem to think it is difficult to use and really enjoys using hers.

I have a Cricut and I love it. My mom has an older model that only cuts paper using cartridges. But the cricut maker is so much better. It uses an online database and you have endless design options. You can cut, draw on vinyl, paper, chipboard and other materials. I asked my now fiancé to get it for me for my birthday last year. It may help if you have a bit of a crafty background. I don’t think it would be worth it you use it for only wedding purposes, but it definitely is if you’ll use it for other things. I’ve used mine for gifts, wedding decor, home decor, and cards mostly. I even used it to address envelopes when I sent out Christmas Cards this year (although it took awhile). These are some things I made using it. Cricut 9
This will be our guestbook. Once signed it will go in a nice frame.

Once you get the hang of it, it’s super easy!! I made a bunch of stuff already and I plan on using it for signs once we get closer!

I have a Cricut and it took me a few tries to get it right! I agree with others, it’s not worth it for one event. When purchasing the cricut you also have to get the press, the board, the pens, vinyl, and tools which are not included in the initial cost. Not to mention the board and vinyl are frequent cost. I’m sure someone you know has one! I would ask around! If not you can find cute stuff in Hobby Lobby and Michaels which would be a much cheaper upfront cost
