Cricut wedding DIY

Alice, on July 28, 2016 at 3:16 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 11

Has anyone used Cricut to DIY their wedding decor or invites? And if so what did you make? Show me your projects!

My coworker just mentioned Cricut today and there's so much ideas on Pinterest! Another coworker of mine owns three machines, wedding & bridal cartridges and is open to a craft party. What do I need to buy?

I don't have any decor yet, and my colors are pink and purple, how feasible is it to make most of my own decor using Cricut? I am a newbie but I still want everything to look professional.

Suggestions please!

I made a very simple banner for dessert table.

If I had more time I would have done invitations as well

I have a silhouette, which is basically the same thing. I've used mine for everything!! Banners, chalkboard signs, tumblers, getting ready clothes, my bouquets, centerpieces, invitations, selfie station props, cake topper, bags board sets... It has been an absolute life saver!! Here is a pic of the chalkboard I did recently!

I have a Cricut. I make things for my classroom. I'm no good at it really, just letters for bulletin boards. I do have a coworker who makes amazing designs and cards and things with hers.

My godmother has a cricut she uses obsessively! I need to check into wedding cartridges!

If you're going to use your friend's machine, definitely bring your own paper. I recommend good quality cardstock from Michael's or Joanns or the like. You might also offer her some money ($10-20) for replacement blades and mats because those can go quickly when using them a lot for big projects.

My mom is using her cricut to do all my invitations and table settings... Its relatively easy to assemble things and its a lot cheaper than ordering everything from a professional... I provide the paper, replacement blades and a couple new boards. Its fun to have a hand in putting everything together.

I got a Silhouette (similar to a Cricut) from Amazon Prime Day so I can't wait to try it out. Stalking this thread. Smiley smile

@ashleys Thanks!! The silhouette is a cutting machine just like the cricut. You can use it to cut paper, cardstock, vinyl, and more! Instead of using cartridges, the silhouette has an online store that allows you to buy designs one at a time. Though, I'm pretty sure the cricut might have that too. Generally, I'll find a picture on Google and edit it to be cut so that I don't have to purchase the design. The software that works with the machine allows you to choose where you want to cut your design on the mat and can save the cutting settings you would like to use. You can change the depth of the cutting blade so that it can cut many different thicknesses. Back when I had a cricut (a long time ago), it could only cut down the right side of the mat to the left side and only cut out the shapes you purchased on a cartridge with many shapes you may or may not care for. That was why I switched to the silhouette. To be able to chose one design that I liked and not have to buy a whole cartridge and for the choices the program gave for where you'd like to cut on the mat. By now though, I'm pretty sure the cricut has these abilities too! Essentially, I was able to use the silhouette's software to design the logo in the center! I have cut the logo from tshirt vinyl, craft vinyl, and turned it into an image that I used on my invites (which I foiled using the Minc), on my favors, and programs!

My FMIL used hers to DIY a lot of things for her daughters wedding from place cards, table numbers, to banners or cutouts on candles. She loves hers!
