Cricut Machine - Worth it?

Kassandra, on October 3, 2019 at 1:09 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 17

DIY Brides - Did you use a cricut machine for any of your projects?? If so, how did you like it? Is there a certain brand to get? If not, what did you use? I'm trying to save as much money as possible by doing most of the decor, but I just don't know what to get or even where to start!!

My sister has the off-brand cricut, I think it's called a silhouette? Anyways, she LOVES it. She makes stuff all the time and sells it through Facebook. She's making us Mr & Mrs tank tops for our honeymoon, but she's made everything from shirts to koozies to car and cup vinyls. If you're crafty, I definitely think it's worth it!

I have a silhouette cameo which is essentially a cricut. I have used it for all kinds of stuff! I've made shirts, cups, bags, etc with everyone's monogram on them. It is super easy to use. I love mine!

My FMIL gave me her Cricut to use. I’ve made about 11 shirts, 5 wine glasses, made bridesmaid boxes, I’ll be using it to make my table numbers and any/all wedding signs (making stencils to use for wood) and I’m sure I’ll find other ways to use it. I’m sure I saved so much money on shirts.

I have a cricut maker and love it. I haven’t really started on any wedding projects yet, but I’ve made all kinds of cards including some thank you cards we mailed out to some people who sent us cards congratulating us on our engagement. I’ve made some shirts, signs and some etched glass with it. I plan on using it for save the dates, invites, bridal party gifts/shirts, thank you cards and various signs and decor. I convinced my FH to buy it for me as a birthday gift and that it would help a lot with wedding stuff. Seeing some
of the stuff I’ve made he agrees it was worth the cost.

I have the Explorer 2 model. I wish I would have bought it before I made my invites, would have been nicer looking and faster! I’ve made wine glasses, shirts, and sunglasses for all of my bridesmaids and the table number labels for the centerpieces. I will be using it to make all of my signs and escort cards as well. The best thing about it is that I would not have ever considered myself a crafty person and I honestly love using it!

My FH threw a cricut in the Amazon cart after three days of me explaining how easy projects would be if I had my own, haha! Seriously, it's been super beneficial for us! We used it to create our window wedding program, card box, signs for the guest book and gift/cards, signs that will be placed up the walk way containing a bible verse, and a sign pointing guests in the right direction (my handwriting is awful to say the least). Surprisingly my FH knows how to use it better than me though!

I have a Silhouette Cameo and have made a few things, a welcome sign, hangers for my bridal party. I’m sure I’ll make a few more signs. They are expensive so it depends on how much your going to use it for your wedding or if you are going to use it after for anything. I love mine.

That's a good idea!! I would love to be able to make items for my bridesmaids boxes with one! Everything is so expensive when you're buying off etsy and so on. Especially the robes that I would like to get done.

I had no idea that you could use it for etching glass! I was more looking at using it for decorations, but it would be awesome to be able to use it for stationary items as well!

For glass etching I just used it to make a stencil, then used etching cream on the glass, works well but you have to make sure the stencil is down good. What helped sell my FH is I told him I would make all the Mother’s Day/birthday cards he needed indefinitely. It’s also useful for gifts especially Christmas and not just wedding stuff.

I think it’s worth it. I haven’t bought my yet. It’s currently on sale for $299. I bought 5 bridesmaids tumblers with their names for almost $85. If I made it myself, it would have been way cheaper. I am buying a cricut explorer air 2.
