My husband and I are going to be renewing our Wedding Vows on our 6 Year Wedding Anniversary since we were not able to have our dream wedding the first time around due to being 7 Months Pregnant with our son. My husband is from New Orleans and wants us to have a Crawfish Boil in New Orleans and make our Reception more casual/relaxed. Has anyone done this before or is it a tacky idea? I want to do something that would be fun for all instead of a traditional sit down 4 course dinner where we would be more relaxed with our guests. Please Help. Thanks.

I think would be a great time. Have a brass band playing music early on in the night and a DJ later. Let us know what way you go.

Lauren, thanks for the suggestion. I'm not into brass bands. For our Rehearsal Dinner since we have our own ipods, we'll probably get some Louisiana Blues music and some modern music playing on that, and the Louisiana Castle actually includes a DJ for the Ceremony and Reception in it's costs(I'm so thrilled) so for the Ceremony and Reception it will all be our own song lists which we're going to make CDs on itunes and give them to the DJ, and not have anyone elderly complain "Turn that music off" like my grandparents are well known for doing even if "Baby Got Back" is played.

My fiance' is from NOLA and we are having the wedding there. We want to do a crawfish boil for the rehearsal dinner (with BBQ etc) any suggestions on an outdoor venue in New Orleans? We thought about Automon park but mosquitos are pretty bad at night...any suggestions?
