Crafty folks, what do you think?

I want to make my own card box, but I've never made a square. I made a round one for my best friend's wedding in 2012. Here are pics of my idea photo and the fabrics I like. Our wedding is Nightmare before Christmas themed and happening next Valentine's day.

I like the black damask for the top tier, red for the middle and the Jack like pinstripe material for the bottom (biggest) tier. Do you think this will look ok? Also, what is the best adhesive, hot glue with material on cardboard or something else?
I will embellish with ribbon and I'm considering gems around the opening. One difference is that the opening for our box will be at the top, not the middle.

I love my hot glue gun but if it’s small embellishments you may risk there being a bunch of dried glue around around the embellishments, bc you won’t notice and be able to wipe it away till it’s dried. E6000 may be a good option, it’s popular for jewelry and embellishments.
And it looks very goood but I can’t tell the size of the top box, but looks a tad small. Keep in mind wedding cards tend to be a good bit larger than a standard envelope (prob about the size of your invitations) so keep that in mind as well.
And last, I highly recommend a little sign or something in front of it saying “cards” or “well wishes for the mr and mrs” it mad seem like common sense, but otherwise you’ll have a bunch of people asking each other where the cards go

That's just my inspiration picture. Because my box will have the opening at the top, my smallest one will be no less than 8". Thank you so much for the tips on adhesive! I'm going to start this project in a couple weeks, so I'm trying to get my ducks in a row now lol 😊

Pretty! I like the pinstripes. If you’ve worked with hot glue enough, you’ll also know that it’s a trick to using just the right amount to not have a bulge. If you’re only gluing the fabric down where it won’t be seen, that’s not a problem, but for me, I’d probably use a fabric glue to baste the box so that the entire fabric was attached rather than just at the edges. They two will give you different looks, depends on how tight you want the fabric to look.

I've not worked with a glue gun in years, so I'll look for fabric glue!! Thank you very much! 😊
