Covid19 Silver Lining... Extra Time with Your New Spouse!

With all the sad, depressing posts, I thought it would be nice to talk about the silver lining of the Covid19 "Shelter in Place" that many/all of us are under. Getting to spend A LOT of time with our new spouses! What have you 2 been up to at home and how are you handling all of the time together? My wife and I just celebrated 6 months married this past Sunday! Though it was celebrated much differently than we ever expected, we have been making the best of it! We recently purchased a new home and have been really enjoying having plenty of free time to unpack and do some home projects!

Are you enjoying the extra time with your husband/wife? What are you doing to pass the time?

Unfortunately nothing has changed for my husband and I. We are deemed "essential" employees during this time. Saying we are both stressed to the max isn't even beginning to cover it.

We too are considered essential, but are able to work from home most of the time. So it has been nice! I鈥檓 sorry you guys are stressed 馃槙.

Right now I am still working at my office. We don't have anyone coming in for office conferences, otherwise just catching up on work really. My FH is laid off so he has been doing more household work and cooking. I don't mind going into work, it helps us to stay on a routine. We spend more quality time together on the weekends so that is nice.

Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of a work from home option, and honestly there is nothing to do at work besides sit there and be warm body. I don't understand how that's considered essential but somehow someone deemed it is. Usually on weekends we would go out and relax but with everything closed there's really no down time, it's work all week, clean the house on weekend, repeat. Ugh so over all of this! I just want a vacation before I got nuts!

Well, this post was supposed to be more lighthearted and positive and while I understand that can be hard for some, I鈥檓 going to try my best to do what OP was suggesting....my FH is still working, but yesterday was a beautiful day and he took it off to spend with me. He cleaned out the garage while I lay in the sun with the dog next to him and we had a little fire and just got silly with each other. Then once he was finished we had some things to deliver/pick up so we took a drive around town together with the windows down and listened to music. We鈥檝e been trying to give each other the comic relief like usual lately because my spirits are VERY down. We鈥檝e caught up on a lot of tv shows we didn鈥檛 get to watch together before because we were both so busy. We are currently prepping for a very small Easter dinner with our new smoker, which he is THRILLED about. Me, I鈥檓 counting my blessings because without him I don鈥檛 know how I鈥檇 get through this.

My fianc茅 works out of town, so our 鈥渘ormal鈥 is he stays in a hotel Monday-Thursday while I work near home. With this virus, he is still considered an essential employee, but I am now working from home.
The most difficult part is to which degree each of our daily lives have changed. His daily routine is fairly the same, with the main difference that he and his coworkers are no longer able to go out to eat together for dinner and there are only a few people now at work. I feel like my day-to-day world has been rocked, as I am at home, make it out of the house once a week at most, and he is the only human I now see!
It caused a lot of tension this past weekend, as he never realized just how isolated some of us are through this and how it does take such a mental and emotional toll after so long. Fortunately, he requested two additional days off this weekend so we will get to spend some quality time together!

My fianc茅 has still been working, but its nice that we get quality time on the weekends. He typically likes to go go go but since we can't its nice to just spend time together around the house, go on walks, and just be with each other. Another silver lining, as hard as it was to postpone the wedding, we are using that extra time we were given to save up for things we didn't think were in the budget and we have the opportunity to spend more time on the last minute DIYs that were going to have been rushed for the original date.

I got married 8 days ago after our original plans for the 11th got canceled. He is a police officer so he鈥檚 essential, and I work retail and my store has closed for the foreseeable future. However, he was able to take all last week off so we spent all week together ! Which was very nice so we could get used to living together, since we didn鈥檛 before we got married, and finish organizing and cleaning up our new house. He went back to work yesterday and now he鈥檚 working 12 hour shifts so I鈥檓 glad we got to start our marriage off with some time for us!

We're both furloughed/on catastrophe pay, so we're at home!

We've been trying to organize and clean the apartment, as well as use our wedding gifts.

So far, we've made ice cream twice (and ordered tools to make more types of ice cream), tonight DH made french fries from scratch (SUPER DELICIOUS), and we're planning breads and maybe gnocchi... might as well get creative, right?

As actors, we've got a bunch of playwright friends asking us to do/attend virtual readings of new work, and my ILs are going to host a huge video Easter where we all read something and dress up.

We have spent the past few weeks catching up on sleep a bit - we both work jobs that tend to leave us a little sleep deprived. Now we're at the point where we need to *do* things, so I have a feeling the apartment is going to look really different fairly soon!

Congrats on 6 months! 馃挄 It was our 3-year anniversary in March for which we celebrated with Mac & Cheese at home. We actually feel blessed because 1) we鈥檙e both healthy, 2) I鈥檓 working from home while he鈥檚 on furlough, 3) we finally get weekends off together again. It鈥檚 a nice silver lining.

Some good things have come of this hard time for me and my fianc茅e. We were both laid off temporarily like many others, so I decided to look for a new job. I did find and get one! My fiancee has been looking into it as well. My new job is a much more relaxed pace than my previous one(I鈥檓 a vet tech and up until now I have worked in high volume surgery) which is good for me as my personal health. While being off work I have taken up painting and crotchet again. My dog has also been loving all the extra attention.

Congratulations on your new job! I know it was not under the best circumstances, but it sounds like it is working out well for you! I hope your fiancee can find a new job soon! Our dogs have loved having us at home too! They will be sad when we go back to work lol.

Congratulations on your recent marriage! I'm glad you decided to get married even with all of the craziness going on! I too am a police officer, but I work major crime investigations, so I am lucky enough to do paperwork from home and go into my office a couple of time a week. Then just respond to call outs as necessary.

It is very nice that you and your new husband were able to have the week to spend together! I am sure that was much needed after the stress of planning a Covid19 wedding! Congratulations again, and please thank you husband for his service!

Our original date was April 18th, now its August 15th. We're still going to get married on our original date since we already have the license, we'll just have the ceremony and reception later. So I guess that's another plus!
