covid sucks

Lillie, on September 24, 2020 at 12:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
I’m having a hard time figuring out how many guests I can have at the wedding due to COVID my wedding is next May and I can’t figure out if I should plan a small wedding or normal size wedding. I’m wanting about 150-200 people and COVID is making it to where we can only invite 50. Is anyone else having this problem?

I hate to say this and I do not mean to sound rude but if it is super important to have the large wedding then postponing until further notice about COVID is your option. Also, it does not help your case that a wedding in Maine led to an outbreak causing deaths so I am sure a lot of venues are concerned.

By May things could turn around but even though it is disappointing (trust me I get it) I think for brides wanting the big day with a lot of guests, no restrictions the option is to push up the date.

I don’t care if it’s a big wedding or not it’s just the fact of trying to decide who not to invite simply to keep it smaller is my problem right now and none of the venues have said to keep it smaller but I would like to for safety but it’s hard to know if it will be over by then

We just got married under the COVID restrictions and it sucks. We weren't able to have a lot of our family and friends there that we wanted. My husband and I both have large families, but the immediate of the immediate families came and we didn't have any issues. Maybe planning the day with who you cannot get married without and go from there? Trust me I know it sucks and my answer is not helpful at all. You might be better off postponing??

What if you get married on your date so you can still have it and then throw a reception with your large party when COVID "dies down?"

Yeah the unknown sucks majorly. I am hoping things will be better by May. It does make it frustrating. Even my bridal brunch this weekend I had to decide who was more important to have there and make some cuts. You could maybe still have it bigger and put in safety precautions (hand sanitizer, masks, etc...) because even with 50 there could still be risks and what not.

Yeah, having mine in 22 days, the venue has told me I can have more than 50 people but then that means the majority of it can’t be outside like I wanted, safer option. I think it depends on if it’s indoor or outdoor. I invited over 100 with the knowledge that a lot of people probably weren’t going to show because they didn’t want to travel with covid but then the venue suggested I keep it around 50 so I cut people off after I got 50 RSVPs. I sent family invitations out first to give them the chance to RSVP first. I know it sucks, but we have a responsibility to try our best to keep it smaller and to keep our guests and others healthy. Best wishes to you!

Yes, some of our party favors are small soaps with personalized labels (from Etsy) and small hand sanitizers with personalized labels. We are definitely encouraging masks and social distancing and trying to keep the bulk of it outside.

So hard to say... sadly, I am not sure if venues will be allowing a large amount come May.

Well obviously you won’t know until closer to the date what the restrictions are, but I honestly would probably plan around half maybe 100. You can always add people to a contract but I’m not sure if a 200 person wedding will be allowed anywhere by May. Is it outdoors?

It’s really too early to tell but a lot of area are starting to increase their indoor capacity, you maybe ok for whatever wedding you would like in May. I always knew I wanted a small wedding covid or not but when covid got real, I wrote down who I definitely wanted there.
They got invited first then as time went on I started to invite other people. I’m having an indoor wedding with 60 people we are taking as much safety precautions as we can.
