We’re only allowed to do a first dance at our reception, no other dancing, buy our venue doesn’t have room for social distancing and a dance floor.
The restriction seems way too complicated for the venue to actually be able to do anything other than ask everyone to wear masks (and potential expel those who don’t) and suggest keeping distance. They don’t really have any way of knowing if the two people dancing together live together, or are they really going to require every individual person maintain six feet of social distancing?

That's one of the reasons we postponed. I love dancing and didn't want to have restrictions while trying to enjoy myself. Wearing masks and limitations with dancing are the opposite of what a reception is to me.

I had a cousin who went to a wedding with the same restrictions. They had their guest list split into 3 groups and each lasted a few hours. There was dancing but had to be 6 feet apart. This led to everyone feeling awkward and not actually dancing and it ended up being more of a social event. My cousin said it wasn't bad but she has a feeling the bride wishes she had just postponed because everyone felt awkward and didn't know what to do. Lots of standing around with loud music, nobody dancing, and people leaving after congratulating.

I know I feel for the bride. It really sucks having all of this come crashing down around us. It's just all so unfair!

Our reception was scheduled for September 19, 2020. We postponed until September 25, 2021, to a 1yr anniversary celebration.

I would postpone for that honestly.

We have restrictions here too but they also said they won’t be following people around to enforce either.
