Dedicated May 0021

covid Brides and their Dresses

on July 15, 2020 at 11:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
If you postponed to 2021 what did you do with your dress? How/where are you storing it? I received my dress in March. Took it for alterations for my June wedding, covid happened and we moved the wedding to September, now May 2021.
I currently live in Pittsburgh, Pa but moving to Dallas, Tx in September. We would be flying back to Pittsburgh just for our wedding. What do I do with my dress? Its a very big and heavy A line dress. Do I take it to Dallas with me and fly back with it in May? Won’t it be all rumpled? Do I leave it with the tailor in Pittsburgh till May 2021? So confused.

I bought my dress a few months ago and my wedding is February. I'm just leaving it in the garment bag and box that it came in when it shipped. I have yet to take it in for alterations.

I’d take it with you and store it in the closet. But, I definitely wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving it with the tailor. You can always have the dress steamed after you get back to Pittsburgh.

I definitely would take my dress with me. I wouldn't chance leaving it with anyone.

I agree, I would take my dress with me. My wedding got postponed to 2022, and while my seamstress offered to store it for 2 years, I decided to pick it up. It's just too long of a time and I know that if I keep it in its garment bag in a closet, it's way less likely to be misplaced.

I had my dress for over a year in the garment bag in the dark closet. Before my wedding I shipped it to my moh through UPS. After the wedding I brought it with me in the plane as a carry on.

So I was supposed to be a May 2020 bride and we postponed to next April. I had my second fitting just a few weeks ago because my original fitting in March got cancelled due to COVID-19. Im making my tailor finish my dress and I’m planning on keeping it at home by August only because I don’t want to have the stores close down again/not be able to get my dress down the road. I have an A-line dress and it’s portable in the garment bag so I’d move with it if you don’t feel comfortable leaving it in Pittsburgh.

In a closet in a cloth garment bag. I have had my dress since January of this year and my wedding was moved to April next year.

I'm keeping mine in a dark, cool closet in it's garment bag. I'm also laying it down flat rather than hanging it so my straps don't get stretched out (it is a heavy A-line dress as well). I would bring it with you when you move! You'll have peace of mind knowing your dress is safe and sound with you and you can get it professionally steamed a few days before the wedding.
