Savvy September 2021

Covid blues

Private User, on November 29, 2020 at 3:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Hi All,

We are planning on getting married in September of 2021 with 40-30 people in attendance. Our venue is a historic building/restaurant in our local downtown area.

At this point I am freaking out wondering if we should just call off the whole party and just elope with our parents in attendance and throw a proper big party in a few years. I may be being overly pessimistic but I am not confident that things will be completely safe by that time and my parents and FH fall into the high risk category. We are eager to have kids and don't really want to delay past our original date so just waiting until 2022 isn't an option.
I don't know if I want to continue to plan for an event that may be unable to happen. We have until Jan 16th to cancel our venue and get our deposit back and I am thinking of just cutting bait and doing something smaller. Anyone else thinking of pulling the plug on their plans?

Nope! Take a breath & relax. Don’t make a decision based on fear- you’ll only regret it later. There’s the vaccine coming out in a few months that’s going to be a game changer. Your guest list really isn’t that big & if anything you can make cuts to it.

I think that by September of next year things will be much better. I don't see there being a restriction that can't allow 30-40 guests. I wouldn't make a decision until your deadline

Only you know whats best for you. I pulled the plug bc I didn't want to spend a bunch of money and be restricted with our state's mandates. We are now marrying in my hometown with only our parents present.

Personally I'd have a plan B just in case. I think with the low amount of guests you have 30-40 people you should be fine to continue with your plans. Itd be different if you had a large guest amount like over 100. But nothing is wrong with having a plan B just in case. My only worry would be the historic building/restaurant surviving the pandemic and not going out of business. A lot of businesses are shutting down.

If you’re seeking “completely safe” by 2021 then, yes, you should probably elope.

We postponed a year to October 2021. Although I’m hopeful that things will be better than they currently are, I don’t foresee life/events being fully “normal” again yet.
