covid and Next Year

Halie, on June 19, 2020 at 1:37 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

My fiance and I are planning a small wedding. Our guest list is... 30 people so far. We are inviting immediate family and close friends. We have been discussing who else to invite, but want to cap the guest list at 50. Assuming COVID-19 is still an issue next year, how much would I need to cut the list? How far in advance do I need to send out invitations?

Luckily, it is a couple weeks before. I guess that is the nice part about picking a non-traditional venue.

Don’t plan as if Covid will still be an issue next year. Plan your dream wedding, thats what you deserve to do! And if it is an issue you can always adjust but I wouldnt plan a revised party since next year could be totally normal again

I was reading online that Save the dates could be sent 6 months prior to the wedding and Invitations at least 2 months before. I had this same question and that is what I found out, but we are not planning on changing anything on our wedding, I really believe that we’ll be fine for next year, our guest list right now is between 20-30 people. We have changed our best list so many times lol. So i will suggest you to just have fun planning the wedding of your dreams for now.

Depending on your venue...50 is a small crowd unless you are allowing guest to bring plus 1s then the list of ppl goes up. However...6 months is perfect for STD and INVITATIONS 3 TO 2 MONTHS BEFORE...

I wouldn't think it would be a pandemic. We are also getting married June 5th 2021. I would think your guest list is fine. We are doing the Enloping package we just have 35 Guests.

That depends on the capacity of your venue.

We picked a venue that has max capacity of 49, and can only operate at 50% in the green, so that limits our guest count to 24. We originally were planning on inviting 30 guests and have had to cut down by not including children and dates (+1’s) for singles. That kept us right at 24.

Good to know! The riverboat can hold 150 so we are well below that number with our original guest count.

Thank you for reminding me of that! We have been going back and forth between 30 to 50 guests. We have such big families, we decided to keep it small to make our budget go further and have a better experience overall.

Thank you for this information! The 50 guest count is including plus ones and no kids. We didn't want to have kids at our wedding since it is on a riverboat. We were concerned about kids having a meltdown and not being able to leave while the riverboat is cruising.

Hi Halie! I think 50 is a very reasonable number, especially since you have a long time before your wedding!

What will give you the most flexibility throughout the planning process is to only send Save the Dates to your absolutely-must-invite list, knowing that you can always invite your full guest list when it is time to send out the official invitations!
