Hi everyone,
These are definitely stressful times for all brides getting married within the next 6-8 weeks. Our wedding was scheduled for March 29, 2020 in Naperville, IL. Like everyone else, we were excitedly counting down the days until our big day. As fears about the coronavirus kept mounting we went from an "everything is going to be okay" mentality to "oh crap, this isn't good".
Half of our bridal party, my parents, and family friends were supposed to fly in from Puerto Rico and were starting to freak out. My mom is a breast cancer survivor and is still in treatment. Her doctor suggested she shouldn't fly. Oh, and half of our guests are 65+. It all quickly began to sink in that we would have no choice but to reschedule our wedding, given the circumstances.
We met with our venue yesterday and they were absolutely wonderful about everything. They easily moved our wedding out to June 7th and waived all cancellation/rescheduling fees. Hopefully, all this will be long gone in 12 weeks. All our vendors so far have been equally understanding and are available for the new date.
After this rollercoaster of emotions and looking at all of the things we'll have to throw out because they have the 3.29 date on them, my fiancé and I started tossing around the idea of eloping on our original wedding date. We've been looking around for venues and officiants for just the two of us.
We'd greatly appreciate it if anyone had any suggestions in the area. We already have a DuPage County wedding license that expires in April.
