Just Said Yes July 2020

covid 19 Reschedule

Brittany, on March 17, 2020 at 2:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Our wedding was supposed to be April 4th, so we had basically just gotten everything finished and confirmed with all of our vendors and guests. Michigan is under executive order that we cannot have any gatherings over 50 people until after then. We are in the process of contacting all of our vendors to find a date that works for all (or most) of them.

My question is when we figure out a new date, do we have to resend all of our invites?!?! Can we just update our wedding website and do a combination of word of mouth and social media? I really don't want to have to spend the money to do that whole portion over again. And if we do send new invites, do we send them to everyone on the original list or only those who were planning to come?

I think you can get away with not sending new invitations if you make contact with every guest directly and not just hope that word gets to them. I would also update your wedding website like you said. If you do send new invites, definitely send to everyone on the original list. Those that may have RSVP'd no to your original date may be able to attend on your new date.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I think it's best to send out an email or letter to your whole guest list and then send out new invites...I know it sucks Smiley sad

I think you can reach out to everyone. It might help to enlist your parents and FILs, to spread out the work.

We are sending out a postponement card with a reminder of our wedding website link, but not sending new RSVPs or anything like that.

Our wedding was originally April 11th. We have also postponed (until June!).

We are planning to send out postcard invites (that should be cheaper!!) and have everyone RSVP via email or text me or my fiance instead of mailing back an RSVP.

We have started to spread the word already so everyone can make new plans!

I believe that your wedding wire website has the capability for RSVPs directly to your site. I originally had this set up, but decided to go with paper RSVPs. You could always send out postcard postponement cards and ask for rsvps on the site maybe?

First of all, thank you for doing the responsible thing and postponing your wedding. It's people like you who give me hope that maybe our country can actually beat this virus!

Second, I think that you should reach out to everyone, not just the people who RSVP-ed yes. There may have been people who couldn't come before, whereas now they can because your new date works for them. However, I don't think you need to create brand new invitations. Something like paperless post sent via email would be perfect for this situation.

Best of luck in your planning!
