Covid-19 officer

Heidi, on January 14, 2021 at 4:04 PM Posted in Planning 1 10

Hi!

So I've recently been told that some couples have decided to have a Covid-19 officer at their wedding. This officer sets up a quick testing station and create a safe space for guests to enjoy the event worry free. Has anyone done this for their wedding? I'd like to know more if it made everyone feel better about attending a wedding during a pandemic or did they just kill the vibe by being overly strict?

I've never heard of that and personally wouldn't want to get tested while at a wedding.

I have not heard of this either. It sounds like something maybe venues have in place to make sure they are meeting and exceeding health & safety requirements? Either way, if you are doing rapid testing at a wedding, my concerns would be 1) the tests are not always accurate, and 2) what is your plan if someone tests positive? Technically, the entire guest list would need to leave and quarantine immediately due to exposure. Which is certainly better than said person going undetected and spreading it around to everyone else all night...but just something to consider.

In my state currently guests would be required to sit for the full 6 hours unless to go to the bathroom. Its also outside by the ocean. So far I have only gotten positive responses from my guests about taking rapid test prior to entry. They would much rather take a test and be able to stand/social distanced dancing rather than not take a test and sit all night.(Was supposed to post this here originally)

I would have no problem with this as a guest, provided that the bride and groom are covering the cost of the rapid test.

I agree with this. Most guests will likely choose to stay home and watch it virtually as an alternative.

A testing station? Can you elaborate on this? Will they actually be administering a Covid test, or just taking guests temperatures?

I would not take a Covid test to get into a wedding unless I was super close to the person. What happens if I get a false positive, and have come all that way for nothing?

I would not take a rapid test, as they are not reliable and will not catch someone who is just caught the virus.

Unless *every single guest* had quarantined for 2 weeks prior to showing up at the event (and had no contact with anyone there), plus the vendors...
