I have been toying around with covering my tattoos on my wedding day. I have a beautiful strapless dress and wanted a clean classic look. I have a half sleeve, chest tattoo, and a large tattoo on my back. It is going to be expensive and time consuming day of. I am terrified that the makeup will transfer on my dress and possible onto my fiancé. The makeup artist is using an alcohol based air brush system. Any advice??

I'm also #teamtattooedbride and sharing a photo from my ceremony that features my half sleeve. It's up to you lady, if you wanna cover them, but I agree with others that they're a part of you and certainly won't take away from your bride-ness! Smiley smile

My makeup artist is doing my arm coverup for $35& my MOH... I personally don't like to see bridal party or the bride exposing tattoos that aren't covered up.

^^^^^ I have a tattoo on my arm that's being covered up! My MOH are also covering up their tattoo for my wedding. I PERSONALLY don't like to see bride in beautiful dressing with their tattoos exposed!

I only have two, but one is on my chest and I have no plans to cover. It's who I am and tatted brides look badass and stunning.

Rock those tattoos!! I don't think it takes away from the dress at all! I just thought it would be weird to look back on my pics and wonder where my tattoo went if I would have covered it.

I think I'm one of the odd ones out here. Although I agree that you should not be ashamed of tattoos because they are a part of who you are, I also believe that you can love your body art and still not want it showing on your wedding day.

I'd ask your MUA for a trial run to ensure that you are comfortable with the makeup on your body and see how long it lasts. Don't feel pressured to leave them exposed if you don't want them showing. But don't be afraid to show them off if you love them either. You should feel comfortable and confident in your dress. And if that means covering them up, go for it! ETA: words

You should feel confident and comfortable in your skin in anything you wear tattoos and all. Why drastically change your appearance for pictures?

I intentionally picked a dress that would show off my tattoos. They're a part of you! Dont worry about covering them up. That being said I have a bridemaid that is concerned about hers ruining my pictures, I talked with our photographer and they can easily be photoshoped away

The wait time on your photos will be forever asking your photographer to edit out each picture showing your tattoos !

I have 17 tattoos and won't be covering any of them, except the ones that physically can't be seen. Tattoos are part of who you are. Rock them!

I think most people who have tattoos will say don't cover them. I personally only have one that will end up showing in my dress, but I have no intention of covering it. It's my favorite tattoo! But this is going to be a decision you decide is best for you and the look you want. Definitely check with your hired MUA to make sure it'll stay and see if he or she has anything to set the airbrush. Otherwise, I would look into a separate MUA that specializes in tattoo coverage.

Facing the same issue right now. we want our wedding in June however I have a tattoo on my chest and on my back which are not easy to conceal. Having to talk to a makeup artist who specializes in that is like the best option for me now because some of my family hates them. it’s definitely hard. I have so many different wedding dress ideas in my head but i feel like this is what will be preventing it. our wedding is in 2 years but it’s something that i feel i should start thinking about
