Covering Cork Wedges

Jessica, on May 13, 2018 at 11:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
I bought a simple pair of white cork bowser wedges for my dress and I didn’t think anything of them until someone pointed out that they’re not really wedding shoes. Now that I think of it, they’re right and I’m not sure if I should somehow DIY fix them to make them prettier or buy new ones? I bought them because they were somewhat the most comfortable option and I really hate heels, but I already got my dress hemmed and can’t afford to switch to something shorter. I’m not a DIY type of person unless it’s super simple. Anyone have any ideas what to do or suggestions for how to cover the cork and make them prettier? Thanks!

Covering the cork in glitter is really easy.

    You could also use crystals.

Or, take them to a shoemaker with the fabric of your choice and they will cover them for you.

It's also quite possible, depending on the length of your dress, that no one will see your shoes -- so, if they are comfortable, just go for it! Daughter is wearing glittery flats for the ceremony and Converse for the reception. Wear what's right for you, and ignore the "feedback"!

I'd leave them as they are. They look fine and most people will never even see them. Doesn't seem worth the effort

Yay! Comfort is the most important! My shoes are being shown through my dress and I’m wearing vans sneakers throughout it all!

I'm fairly certain that the definition of wedding shoes are shoes you wear on your wedding day. No matter what that other individual says (although I'm sure they meant well), those are wedding shoes. If you'd like to jazz them up, paint or glitter them but I honestly don't believe it's necessary.

Given the length of your dress, will your shoes be very visible? I know mine won't be at all so I wouldn't worry about this. Even if it is visible, I am not sure the cork is something to worry about. I suppose if it bothers you painting it white would be really straightforward to do.

I feel like they are wedding shoes! Just because they have cork, they don't strike me as non-wedding shoes?

If you like them and they are comfortable then it shouldn't matter that someone else doesn't think they are "wedding" shoes.

Agree! Do what makes you comfortable and don't worry about what other people think, they can wear what they want to their wedding...

I'm wearing sequin converse so I am really not following the "wedding shoe rules" lol. If you feel like they need something then I'd just add glitter! If you like them the way they are then go for the way they are. It's your wedding after all Smiley smile

Who cares if they’re not “wedding shoes”?! If you’re comfortable then wear them! Wedges are the bomb, so comfy!
Butttttt if you want to cover the cork, paint or glitter, as previously suggested, would look awesome. You could even do like a glitter gold or silver paint. Or just white paint, if you want it all the same color.

Hi Jessica! "Wedding shoes" vary depending on your style and setting, so these will actually work fine! Are you still planning on wearing them, or are you going to decorate them? Fill me in!
