Courthouse wedding- bridesmaids?

Kelsea, on August 20, 2018 at 7:44 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
Hi everyone, as of right now, our plans are to get married at the courthouse and have a small intimate backyard bbq. I’d still like to ask my sister, cousin, and future sister-in-law to be my bridesmaids (aka my right hand girls & great support system) even though we aren’t having a traditional wedding. How should I go about this?

Find out if the court house has a limit on the number of guests you can have with you. If you can have these family members with you then just ask them, privately and personally (don't worry about unnecessary, dramatic, cute "proposals"). Wait until you are less than a year away from the wedding.

You may need to talk to the court house. I was planning a court house wedding but was told be better on a public setting for free if I didnt want a venue. Some court houses i heard only allow two extra people as witnesses but some places dont do that anymore either. So it may all depend on the court house. Once you find out about if you can have them, then maybe do something cute or cheesy that you can hand make asking them to be bridesmaid

Court room weddings are generally very small spaces. If you want a wedding party just do it in the back yard or a park or something. We actually walked across the street from the courthouse to a walk in chapel to elope in February to get him insurance. It was actually really cheap and nice looking and just as fast.

Hi Kelsea! That's so sweet that you want to include them on your day! Agreeing with the above comments, I would reach out to the courthouse and see what their policy is and how big it is! If there's not enough room, you could always have it in a public park so that they can be there for it!
