Have you determined your budget and guest count already? If not that should be the next move so you can get an idea of where to go next. Does your venue offer catering or will you need to figure that out as well?

Are you required to have your venue cater? Do you know what type of food you want served and what style? Have you done a tasting? What are your colors for your wedding and will it be a theme? Are you having a bridal party? If yes have you asked them?

Those would be my next things to figure out. If you already have them figured out then there's nothing else for you to do right now because your wedding is far away. I would definitely wait for dress shopping since its 2+ years away.

You are nearly three years out, to be honest I would pump the breaks and not commit to too much else! Your tastes and ideas may change over the years. I would wait until at least two years prior to make any big commitments.

In the meantime I would do the following:

    * Make a pinterest board with various subcategories, start collecting ideas

    * Read the book A Practical Wedding, and also the Practical Wedding Planner if you like. The book is great, gives you a history of weddings and details everything you have to do to have a successful wedding. It really helps you wrap your head around it and is just an enjoyable book overall.

    * Watch wedding related shows...Say Yes to the Dress, Four Weddings, all that good cheesy stuff

Hi everyone, my wedding is hopefully gonna be on this date. I’m looking at a venue on July 1st and hoping it’s the one. Then probably won’t go dress shopping till December or January. What should be my next move after booking the venue?

Hello everyone. We are in a whirlwind-just got engaged and moved into a new home. Between setting our home and trying to plan a wedding, I feel like I'm being swept up. I've helped plan two weddings before but its different when its your own.

Hello everyone, we are 98 days out (9/16/23) and we have just about everything in place. Have many of you experienced an issue with the groomsmen not responding, backing out or not going in for the fitting? Like Maria, I've always been the planner or decorator, but this, this is a WHOLE different ball game. Do many of you plan to have the videography done and if so what are the price ranges running for that type of service? I already have a photographer, but he is only doing this as a favor for me, because he stopped doing weddings to focus on his business a few years ago. He does not do videography though.
