Couples getting married on October 1, 2020

Kimberly, on May 6, 2020 at 10:03 PM Posted in Planning 1 12
Hello October 1st brides! I just found this forum for our date and I wanted to know if anyone minded sharing what their thoughts/plans are as of now? Most days I am confident things will be okay by them and others I feel like we will definitely have to postpone. How is everyone else feeling?

Hello date twin! So far we're feeling good. Our ceremony location is allowing visitors starting May 16th. We have a very small crowd, around 20 people now, so we're pretty confident we'll be okay. We're still getting married on our original date next week, but our "big bang" was postponed to 10.1. If we would have to postpone again, we're okay with pushing to spring since we'll already be married. If our gathering was more than 50, then maybe I'd be worried, but for our situation I feel good! I hope the best for you and if you would decide to postpone, WW is a great support group! We're here for you! Positive thoughts though!

We're getting married in Jamaica 10/9/20, and having our stateside reception 9/19/20 in Sacramento. We are still moving forward as planned until we are certain it won't be happening. We're just making payments with our vendors for the reception. Jamaica has been paid off since January.

Our date is 10/3/2020. We are planning on moving ahead with everything! Our guest list only consists of 75 people including the two of us. We aren't going to worry too much unless things aren't close to normal by July.

I have had moments of freaking out when surrounded by negative comments about how covid is never going away and we will be stuck living like this for years.. Realistically, things will have to start opening back up! Our state's plan as of right now is to start re-opening things at the end of this month on the 26th. As long as we are at the point of being able to have gatherings of up to 100 by October, we will be good!

My fiancé and I had an October 23 wedding booked at a venue here in Maryland, and after we discussed it we postponed to May of 2021. We did this for a few reasons. Our venue allowed one date change free of charge, provided you decided by 6 months out, so we had to make that decision in April to avoid any financial penalty, and since we're on a tight budget, that was important. We also had not mailed out Save the Dates yet. The only notice our guests had was some word of mouth to folks that were going to need to travel. So there was no official communication to change and that made it easier to push back. And we got engaged on January 1st, and had wanted to get married within the year because my fiancé's father has been fighting cancer and we didn't see a reason to have a long engagement. He's doing okay right now, but he is still in treatment. As such, because he's immunocompromised, even if we kept our original date, he might not have been able to attend. In reading up on Covid, I keep seeing mentions of a potential "second wave" in the fall. Of course no one knows for sure, but we felt too uncertain about the state of things, and since our vendors were being accommodating this seemed like the easier choice. We have more time to plan and react. But I have a feeling that what things look like in the fall could also vary a LOT from state to state and city to city.

Are you in WI? Our wedding is in MKE on 10/10/2020, and I'm a little worried. I'm thinking we'll know more in the next 2-3 weeks now that our Supreme Court removed the Safer at Home order. I'm expecting a big upswing in the number of cases.

Yes Smiley smile Our wedding reception will also be in MKE and our ceremony won't be too far outside of MKE on 10/3/2020.

I think we will definitely have a spike in cases in the next couple of weeks because people will go crazy instead of maintaining social distancing with our Supreme Court removing the Safer at Home order. However, I feel like things will improve significantly after that initial spike.

I'm so grateful to have a couple of months to see how things go before deciding what to do. I also just read an article that MKE and Madison are keeping local safer at home orders in effect even with our Supreme Court overriding the governor's orders. I'm not sure how long they will be able to keep their own stay at home orders, but hopefully that helps reduce the number of cases!

Oct. 2 over here! Feeling anxious about the uncertainty but trying to keep pushing ahead. We have decided to go forward with our date and we will manage the guest list accordingly if group gathering limitations are still in place. If all else fails, it might just be our parents and our siblings by our side in October. Wedding is in NC and most of our guests live in MD, so if we end up having a small October wedding, we may look at having a larger reception-style gathering sometime in 2021 with all our friends and family who could not make it.

    Best wishes to you!

Our wedding is planned for 10/10/20 in the Keys. Things are looking up. The Keys will be opening the bridges as of June 1st to allow tourists again. I'm feeling confident that all will be good. We live in NC and travel a lot and from the states we frequent often it appears that almost everyone should be back to "normal" by the end of July (of course there are some exceptions).

Have faith... it will all work out
