Couples getting married on December 17, 2020

Chinda, on August 26, 2019 at 11:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hey everyone. I’m pretty new on here and I was debating on starting a conversation here for about 4 days now. I don’t want to bother anyone. I was trying to read questions That others posted but I figured I’d just give up and just start one here.

Since we have the same wedding date where are you ladies/gents at on your planning? When are you planning on ordering the invitations? What is your theme?

Hello Chinda!! Welcome to Wedding Wire!! I'm so glad to hear you finally reached out! Please don't ever think you are being a bother. These forums are for all of us to talk, laugh, share ideas, ask for advice, and anything else related to our weddings!!!

Now, we are not date twins, as I am getting married May 2020. But I wanted to say hello, and welcome you to the forums anyway.

As far as my own planning, I have my major vendors booked (venue/catering, photographer, DJ), and am working on other stuff. Right now, I have picked a selection of bridesmaids dresses for my gals to choose from. They don't actually need to be ordered until about January, so I told my ladies to take their time making a decision. We have also picked out the men's attire, but also have not ordered anything yet. FH will be buying his suit for the wedding, but the groomsmen will rent. I am still making decisions about decor, and will be doing that myself (DIY). The theme wasn't something I actively decided, but I'm starting to realize that my decor preferences and style is looking like fairy tale princess wedding. Like Cinderella without all the evil parts/people. lol

I've been researching bakers lately, as we want just a small, one-tier cake for the cutting, and then a big table full of small desserts, like fruit tarts, chocolate mousse, brownie bites, mini cupcakes, etc. I'll be scheduling some tastings for that shortly.

We have had engagement photos taken, and I designed our Save the Date cards. Those are all ready to go out next month. I also have designed our invitations, but those have not yet been ordered. Those will go out in March next year. Our guest list is 110, but I expect about 80 or 85 realistically to show up.

What does your wedding look like? Theme? Colors? Have you asked your bridal party yet? How many will you have?

Like I said, don't ever feel like you are bothering anyone on here!! Those of us that participate a lot, do it because we love it! I love being able to talk to other brides, and pick their brains for ideas, or get general advice, or just have some support for a much needed rant!! That's what we're here for! I've gotten a lot of good ideas from these ladies, so don't forget about that, when you find yourself stuck.

    Good luck, and happy planning!!

Welcome to WW! I'm having a December wedding too!

Our theme is Mini Holiday and our colors are mint-green, red and white. What theme/color palette were you thinking for yours?

Thank you! We originally planned the wedding for April 2020 but changed it to December 2020. I started freaking out because how close it was and how much I haven’t done. But I’ve always wanted a winter wonderland theme any way so it worked out. I planned 120 guest but probably 80 would possibly show. I’m doing a DIY for my centerpieces to experiment on which one is looks better and is cheaper. We aren’t doing a cake because we’re from a big family and have cake very often. I might look into dessert table thou 🤔 For my bridal party it’ll just be my sister in law (my brother’s wife) as my MOH and her sister as my bridesmaid. My brother will be giving me away to my FH. He will have his brother as Best man and his cousin as groomsmen. And our two children will be our flower girl and ring barrier (we have one of each ☺️) our bridal party is small. I didn’t want to make it big. I asked my brothers wife to be my MOH this past mother’s day. I bought her a bracelet with her birth stone and name on it. She of course said yes. My brother has always been there for me and he was there for 13 years through out my relationship with FH and supported us the whole way. It felt right to ask my brother to give me away on his birthday which was also around mother’s day this year.

Red is my favorite color. It always has been since i was little. Come to find out when I met FH he love the color red as well. We felt that we needed red in the wedding otherwise it would make us feel like something is missing. I added the gold in because I want something to pop at the tables if that makes sense? I made a DIY and it came out beautiful. Also I’m Cambodian and our traditional wedding gowns have gold as well. And blue because winter. I just hope it comes out the way I pictured it in my head.

The Cambodian wedding dress sounds gorgeous! I'm sure everything will turn out amazing - just take planning one day at a time so you don't get too overwhelmed
