Ok..my FH and I have been wondering if the pastor we REALLY want to be the one who marries us can marry us via skype? MY FH and I will be together with family and our minister would not be able to physically attend ceremony. We all live in TEXAS and I have read the entire family code and there is nothing that says the officiant has to be present physically, just the couple..no stand ins. We are not able to travel to officiant on specific date and he cant get to us on that specific date. The date we really want is Nov 18th, both mine and my FH birrhday. Anyone have info on this?

My daughter is in the same position. Don't let what anyone else thinks bother you. She put off her ceremony but still wants to get married on the special date. People dont have to like it. That choice is yours. But im not sure if it is legal or not

Oh how times change. I also have had to make alternative arrangements for my wedding and looking through the comments in this thread are quite sad. I hope the original poster of this discussion is living in marital bliss right now. I think I will go ahead and contact my local court clerks office and see what they say. I would certainly forego the in person pastor ceremony to be married to the man I love and if Skype or some other form of technology is the way, let me be about the business of making it happen. Good luck to all who want to be married in 2020 during the COVID19 pandemic. Let no one and nothing stand in your way.
