Counting open bar wedding guests besides wrists bands

Kayla, on September 12, 2019 at 7:53 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
Our venue is allowing us to pay for open bar for only those who drink. The only way the venue suggested to count the people drinking is wrists bands. Anyone have any other ideas on how to count people? I feel like the wrist bands will look like we are at a rave.

Hmmm, how about y'all get a bunch of tickets or something behind the bar and the first time a guest goes to the bar you could have the bartender put a ticket in a bucket, then just count the number of tickets you end up with at the end of the night and thats how many people you pay for. You'd just have to make sure no one gets counted twice. Or you could ask on the invitations, RSVPs or your wedding website. Just explain the deal to the guests and have them let you know ahead of time if they plan to drink. Hope those ideas help, if I think of anything else I'll let you know!! Good luck to ya!!

Can you do a consumption bar? That way you only pay for what people drink rather than trying to track the people?

Stamps on people’s hands? Not necessarily the most elegant either but not as obvious per say

I honestly think wristbands are your best bet. If you want to class them up a little, you could order silicone bands, but that’s just an added expense.

Couldn’t they just keep a list at the bar with whose ID’s were checked? It might be a little more work, but if they’re willing to do it that would save your guests from having to wear a bracelet. Someone else mentioned stamps, and that would be my second idea. You can get a white or glow in the dark color which wouldn’t stand out so much as a dark color.

Honestly, I think wrist bands would be ok, I'd just get a color that isn't obnoxious. You could probably get custom ones made, and that could be cute!

I would do a stamp or a ticket. I mean wristbands are not terrible if they are not those annoying colors lol.

Someone else already mentioned this as well but I think having custom wrist bands made would actually be cute and could act as a favor to those who get them!

You could even have the ones for the girls made onto hair bands and the guys could be those rubber ones so they could easily remove them.

Here are some ideas of all different kinds I found on Google.

The custom bracelet idea is creative and cute! Better than paying twice for some or full price for all those who don't drink.

I think some sort of custom wristband will be cute (then it's kinda like an extra favor for them haha)
