costco Sheet Cake For Guests. Yay or Nay?

Rosita, on January 5, 2020 at 7:49 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 4 9

Okay, so I'm brainstorming budget friendly ideas with fiance. We would like a small cake from a local bakery to display at the reception and which will be just for us. After attending some recent weddings where people refuse cake because of dietary preferences, we're not putting a lot of weight on the cake factor (pun intended). I've also looked into cupcake options around my city and they all seem to be even more expensive than standard wedding cakes.

Since we love COSTCO, we are thinking of ordering 2-3 of their sheet cakes ($20/cake, 48 servings/cake, approx. 100 guests), not displaying these, and serving them to guests when it's cake time. I'm wondering if anyone has done this? If so, how did it go? Tips?

I haven’t done this, but costco cake is delicious and if I were a guest I’d be totally pumped to have it 😂 personally I think it is a good move! You may want to assign someone to pick them up for you so they are fresh

I think it’s totally fine. So many people waste cake or don’t eat it at all I wouldn’t spend tons of money and you have one to cut and for display.

Lots of people have a small pretty cake for photo/cutting purposes then do sheet cakes. I would have done it if cake wasnt included in our package! No need to break the bank!

I've seen several people talk about doing this. This picture is Costco cakes. They just bought different sizes, stacked them, and put roses on them. So it was like $100 for a huge cake. costco Sheet Cake For Guests. Yay or Nay? 1

Yes girl do it! My dad works at a bakery as a manager so he gets free sheet cakes. We are definitely doing that and then having a family friend (who does really nice cakes) do a pretty two tiered cake for the photos!

I think this would be fine. I'm doing a 8 in. cake and cupcakes from Sam's club for our wedding. Like you said, a lot of people don't eat cake. Plus, sams club/costco cake tastes good and its cheap. Honestly, I doubt your guest would even know unless you told them.

Costco sheet cakes are wonderful! Ask that they keep the decoration appropriate. Cutting them in front of guests is not an issue.
