Okay, so I'm brainstorming budget friendly ideas with fiance. We would like a small cake from a local bakery to display at the reception and which will be just for us. After attending some recent weddings where people refuse cake because of dietary preferences, we're not putting a lot of weight on the cake factor (pun intended). I've also looked into cupcake options around my city and they all seem to be even more expensive than standard wedding cakes.
Since we love COSTCO, we are thinking of ordering 2-3 of their sheet cakes ($20/cake, 48 servings/cake, approx. 100 guests), not displaying these, and serving them to guests when it's cake time. I'm wondering if anyone has done this? If so, how did it go? Tips?
