Costco or Sam's cakes

Perla , on September 5, 2018 at 9:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

So a friend of FH's suggested looking into getting our wedding cake from Sam's club. They sent a photo, and it looked really nice, & they said the prices are good. Has anyone ever tried or seen wedding cakes from Costco or Sam's?

I like Costco cakes, and so does my family. I have never had experience with sams though, so I can’t compare.

We did not have a good experience with the Sam's Club in our area. We ordered a trial cake from them and several things were wrong. They did the wrong design (even though we wrote the exact design name down from their book and pointed it out to the baker when choosing), the fondant ribbon that they had going around one of the tiers didn't even wrap all the way around the tier leaving a gap, the tiers were angled, the top tier wasn't frosted completely so there were naked bits where the cake popped through, and the buttercream tasted wayy too sweet. We went to Publix after that, had a much better experience, and are having them bake our wedding cake! Can't wait!

Planning on a Sam's Club 3 tier cake and ordering 100 cupcakes as backup. I'm also ordering little clear lunch bag looking things from Amazon so that if we don't end up using the cupcakes we can use them as favors at the end of the night.

All that will run at about $120, which is LEAPS AND BOUNDS less than anyone else quoted.

I did purchase a sample cake, just went in and picked it up, and it was good. Most weddinng cakes I've had have been dry and this was not!

We are doing a grooms cake from Sam's Club and I would have used them for the wedding if I didn't have a cake cutting fee for not using a preferred vendor!

My cousin had his wedding cake & baby shower cakes made at Sam’s. He also gets bday cakes there & they are always good! I have never had any experience with Costco. I have heard great things abt Publix as well!
